Bad Decisions

“Well, I must say, I never thought it would be you and me locked in a cage with each other.  But it makes sense that our decisions have led us here to this moment in this darkness.  The calliope music fading into the night.  But do you know who I blame for being here, locked in this cage?”

“Well, of course, you, you are literally a man born of piss poor decisions.  Your mother chose to cheat on fair Maxwell with Doom.  Doom choosing to sleep with your mother, dipping his pen in the company ink as it were.  Maxwell’s choice to not question your parentage in the first place, raising you to be a hero when in fact you’re the spawn of a sociopath whose taken advantage of the fine people of Arcadia by using them as cheap labor.”

“You chose to join your old man and the man who raised you, along with the tortured soul of Felix Foley, in the light of the Odessey Pool.  This eventually brought you to blowing this whole group apart.  But that decision would eventually lead you and the man who raised you to the doors of Tower Corp and the inevitable death of the man who treated you as a son, the one who actually loved you.”

“You’re nothing but the culmination of bad decision after bad decision, and not only live in their shadows, but you continue their legacy.  You get involved with Attano’s little tart, Michaela.  You get your heartbroken, and look at you now, wallowing in your own self-pity.  All the while you let Felix Foley become your motivational speaker.”

“Both of you are a tempest of bad decisions.  Letting that man even speak in your presence will only serve to reduce your I.Q.  It only marks the string of awful choices that’s led us both here.”

“However, the worst decision you made in this whole series of continued rake-stepping is when you turned to Felix and told him that I was “yours”.  Look around, James, you’ve got me… all of me, right here, right now, in this moment.  You have me, and I can’t begin to tell you just how bad a decision that is, or do you remember the last man who wanted me alone?  I do, I was happy to watch him wither, suffering on the ground in front of me.  Until I put the nail in his coffin, or should I say the bullet in his brain, and I made it my quest to eliminate all of Arcadia’s heroes.”

“So, when we get out there, you’ll breathe it in, and you’ll relive every moment.  Every bad decision, the fire, your mother’s demise, Maxwell’s death, spiraling deeper and darker until you beg me to end it for you.  Until you weep openly in front of everyone out there in the stands, pain etched on your face, and in a fleeting moment of mercy, I will grant you the release you crave.  Putting an end to your family legacy of bad decisions by letting you make your only good one.”
