[Fade in.. and we see Old Nick Morningstar sitting in an old rocking chair, legs crossed. He reads from a book in his hands.]
“And so the three knights were promised unimaginable riches, a treasure beyond their greatest dreams.. all they had to do was slay the great dragon that’s been terrorizing the town, burning homes and killing livestock. With only a location and dreams of a dragons horde, the knights were sent out, one by one..”
[He turns a page.]
“The first knight was brave and devout, bringing with him the mighty word to accomplish his task. He found the dragon in its lair and attempted reason, hoping he could achieve his task with a conversation. He came without steel, armed only with the _good book_ and _hope_, a fool some would say. The dragon entertained him for a moment, hearing the knight out for as long as it could stand. After a bit of friendly banter the dragon grew tired of the game, and on a whim burned the man alive..”
[He touches his tongue and uses the finger to turn the page.]
“The second knight attempted cunning and deception, using the cover of darkness in an attempt to gain advantage over the mighty foe he faced. For hours he slowly crept through the lair of the beast, picking each step with the greatest care in an attempt to conceal his entry. He was completely unaware that the dragon had picked his scent up the minute he entered and was only pretending to be asleep. This knight managed to get a bit closer, but only because the great dragon needed him close enough to eat..”
[Another page.]
“The last knight, knowing the fate of the two before him, armed himself heavily. Brute force would be his method, with a greatsword and shield he would attack with a great fervor. His battle going much better than the two before him, even managing to dodge a few lazy attacks from the dragon. Alas, this knight would also fall, the dragon crushing him into paste, leaving only flattened steel where he once stood.”
[Old Nick turns another page and pauses. He gently folds the book closed and places it on the table next to him. He steeples his hands in front of him and continues.]
“A tale as old as time and one I know very well. So well in fact, I can recite the ending from memory..
‘And so the dragon would have his revenge, razing the city and destroying the castle. Better to let sleeping beasts lie, for when you awaken the beast you bring about his wrath.’
.. and come Grimm Tales, the story will once again be told. Three knights will try and save the town, but I will not be denied my ending..”
[His eyes flash black, hatred in his face.]
“.. for _I_ am the Great Red Dragon and my wrath will be _magnificent_.”
[Fade to black.]
