“You can’t teach an old dog new tricks.”
[Damien Solus stands before us, an old hunting dog at his feet.]
“This is Rover. Rover has been the goodest of boys.”
“On the weekends, I used to hunt as a way to take my mind off the pain that I endured throughout the week.”
“Rover here was one of the finest. He had a nose born for tracking. He was vicious and violent.”
“I once watched as he ripped another animal to shreds.”
[Damien kneels down, giving the old dog a pat on the head.]
“A man simply couldn’t ask for a better hunting dog.”
“However, time waits for no man or animal, and as such Rover has grown old.”
“He’s no longer able to do what he does best.”
[A smile spreads across Damien’s chiseled face as Rover shows him appreciation.]
“When I think of you, Harold Attano, I’m reminded of Rover.”
“There’s no doubt that you used to be the best at what you do.”
“Zeus would have never trusted you to carry out work for him had you not been just as vicious and as violent as Rover used to be.”
“You used to be capable of tracking down the opposition. You used to be afforded the strength needed to overcome those who stood in your way.”
“Hell, you even used to be able to stand atop Olympus as the OSW World Heavyweight Champion.”
[Solus gives a shake of his head.]
“But that Harold Attano is a mere memory in a life long lived, isn’t it Harry?”
“Just as Rover here, you’ve grown old. You once could have tracked down your daughter with ease, but you’ve lost your sharpness. You’re no longer the young hunting dog that you used to be.”
“You’re long past the ability to learn new tricks. You’ve outgrown your ability to adapt in an everchanging chaotic environment that is Old School Wrestling.”
“And as such, you’re of no use to me.”
[Damien pushes himself back to a full stand and takes a few steps across the room.]
[From inside his jacket, Solus produces a revolver.]
[As he continues, Solus begins to load bullets into the gun from his pocket.]
“If you’re of no use to me, then you’re of no use to my family.”
“Whether you like it or not, Mikaela is MY family now, not yours.”
“Where you failed to protect her, I won’t be making the same mistake.”
[Solus slaps the cylinder of the revolver closed.]
“There’s no doubt that you used to be the biggest dog on the block.”
“But time waits for no man, Harold.”
“As they say, you can’t teach an old dog new tricks.”
“At Forces of Darkness, it’s time to take the old dog out back behind the barn.”
[Damien smiles as he raises the revolver in the direction of dear ole Rover.]
[He slowly places his finger on the trigger.]
“It’s time to put you out of your misery, old man.”
[Static.]
[Before anything else could happen, the feed cuts.]
[Fade.]
