Run, Rabbit, Run

In Calypso, Promo by Calypso

Calypso sits in front of a crystal ball. She beckons you over with a wave of her hand.

Mon chè, have a seat and I will read your fortune with the aide of my crystal ball.

You sit down. The Voodoo Child proceeds to gaze into the ball intensely.

Wi, the visions are coming to me clearly now. What I see will reveal everything about your future.

A few seconds pass before she speaks again.

I see a rabbit. It is running away from a farmer after stealing a carrot from their harvest. This is not the first time they’ve taken from this abitan, but since there’s gray clouds in this vision, it will be the last time the hare steals from their énmi.

The rabbit is running as fast as its legs can carry it. However, the farmer is hot on its tail, and they’re rapidly catching up. The animal tries to use it’s many tricks to escape, including scurrying under small spaces and running through the taller grass. Despite their best efforts, the farmer is able to outwit them every time.

Eventually, la malere lapen is caught by the farmer, who quickly ensures their carrot stealing days are through by slitting it’s throat.

There is a pause as Calypso drapes a velvet cloth over the crystal ball.

You seem confused, mon chè. Is the meaning of the fortune lost to you? Or perhaps you believe what I described isn’t describing you?

She smiles an eerie smile.

You’re right in regards that this isn’t your fortune. It’s the fortune of Gino Carelli, the mafia don that has evaded lapolis ever since he rose to the top.

While under the guise of an innocent businessman, he launders credits like a rabbit steals carrots. For years, he managed to accomplish this without much trouble, accumulating a massive revenue all the while.

What he failed to notice is that the gray clouds of misfortune were rolling in, bringing with them a nasty surprise in the form of a farmer. Her name is Candy Kane, and she made a vow to catch him by any means necessary.

You’re eventually going to take one carrot too many, Gino. When you have, the gray clouds will cover your vision and make escape seem nigh enposib. Candy, meanwhile, is able to see you because no such clouds are blocking her view.

When she’ll catch you, I do not know. All I know from my crystal ball is that you will get caught. If not today, then tomorrow. If not then, later. Regardless, fortune does not favor you, Gino. Eventually, the law will catch up with you.

With a chuckle, she watches as the cloth seemingly devours her ball.

As for my role in all of this? It is simply to ensure what I saw transpires. I’m the one that will lead the rabbit to the carrot so the farmer can slit its vile throat.

I shine to only one thing, Gino… your soul.

With a wave of her hand, she dismisses you. You nod before going on your way.
