[The Generation Kid stands next to a large red brick wall.]
The Generation Kid: “A man once had a beautiful brick wall. He’d spent weeks building it with the finest materials, brick by brick. By the time he was finished, he had something he could truly be proud of.”
[He snaps his fingers and the scene changes, revealing him stood next to a wall with Jet Set Radio graffiti on it.]
The Generation Kid: “But good things aren’t always appreciated by everyone. A rag tag group of graffiti artists didn’t see the wall as something beautiful. They didn’t see it for the same purpose. They saw the wall as a canvas and decided to paint it with their art.”
[TGK takes a washcloth and a bucket of water and starts washing down the wall.]
The Generation Kid: “So the man had no choice but to clean it off. Angry, distraught and stricken by the cost, he took his bucket and his cloth and wiped away the graffiti.”
[He stops, putting the bucket down.]
[Then clicks his fingers.]
[The wall returns with more graffiti than before.]
The Generation Kid: “But the graffiti artists came back and did it again.”
The Generation Kid: “There’s a cycle in Old School Wrestling that must be broken, Jet Set Radio. You’ve spent years painting your art on every canvas you can get your hands on. I know because I’ve been one. Much like the man and his wall, I went away and I washed it off but you came back time and time again, painting all over me.”
[He grabs a pair of protective glasses and puts them on.]
The Generation Kid: “I thought that if I kept washing it away that you’d eventually get bored of painting me. I thought you’d tire yourselves out with trying and inevitably being defeated but that’s just not what happened, is it? No, you saw the wall as a challenge and kept coming back. You saw me as a challenge. At a certain point, the man knew that nothing was going to stop this from happening. He knew that he could clean off and repeat the cycle but cycle wasn’t going to change unless the graffiti artists were stopped, or there was nothing left to graffiti.”
The Generation Kid: “You need to understand, JSR – I’m not willing to keep repeating the cycle. I’m done. I’ve had enough of washing your mess away every single time you see fit to make it.”
[TGK picks up a sledgehammer and stands before the wall.]
The Generation Kid: “There comes a time when it’s easier to just break down the wall.”
[The Kid swings repeatedly, demolishing the wall. As the dust settles and only bricks remain, he smiles, picking one up.]
The Generation Kid: “If I have to destroy myself to stop you.”
The Generation Kid: “I will.”
The Generation Kid: “Sometimes, that’s the only way.”
The Generation Kid: “The old man knew it.”
The Generation Kid: “And so do I.”
