Storms

There was once an ancient oak tree stood tall in the heart of a forest. For centuries, it had witnessed the changing seasons and endured the tests of time.

One stormy night, rain poured relentlessly, accompanied by fierce winds that howled throughout the forest. The oak tree swayed and creaked as the tempest raged around it. It bent, but refused to break, its roots anchored deep into the ground.

As the seasons shifted, a harsh winter arrived. Snow blanketed the land, and icy winds pierced the air. The oak tree stood bare, its leaves long gone. Yet, it remained steadfast, weathering the bitter cold with persistence and obstinacy.

Eventually, Spring arrived, bringing with it a torrential downpour. The forest floor transformed into a muddy mess, and other trees struggled to stay upright. But the oak tree stood firm, its trunk absorbing the deluge, providing shelter to the creatures seeking refuge beneath its sturdy branches.

Colt Ramsey is driven by the pursuit of a perfect story. It’s an intrinsic part of his identity. He has encountered numerous setbacks and disappointments along his path. Instances where leads he thought were promising simply dissipated, leading him back to square one. But much like the oak tree that swayed but refused to break, Colt Ramsey perseveres. He dusts himself off and continues his quest, undeterred by the challenges that come his way.

The Burned Man, on the other hand, has undergone many hardships and challenges throughout his time, having to bear the loss of his precious family. He has been on a relentless search, traversing through the depths of despair and uncertainty. Like the oak tree enduring the harsh winter, he has weathered the emotional storms that threaten to consume him. The Burned Man refuses to let misery extinguish his hope, just as the oak tree’s roots held fast to the ground. He continues his journey, driven by an unbending spirit.

Colt Ramsey and The Burned Man have prided themselves on their ability to weather life’s harshest storms. They have endured defeats and failures, each blow striking them like thunder against their mighty trunks. But yet, they continue to stand tall, their roots firmly planted in the ground. They believe that nothing can topple them, that no storm can uproot them from their place in this world.

But you see, I am the one storm they have not yet withstood. I am the hurricane that will shake their very core – the one force that threatens to extirpate them, to shatter their illusions of invincibility. Colt Ramsey and The Burned Man may have weathered certain storms in the past, but I am the culmination of their deepest fears and their darkest insecurities.

Come Sunday, I am going to test the limits of their resilience, bending their branches to the point of breaking. I will blow away their confidence, leaving them stripped of their leaves of hope. Colt Ramsey and The Burned Man may seem strong and resolute, but soon, I will show them why they are nothing more than two feeble trees.

It’s hunting season.
