“They say if you see a crone washing your armor in a river before battle you are doomed to die in the following battle.”
“This is how people spoke about The Morrigan. A goddess related to war and death. This particular story is about one of her forms where in effect she would be choosing who would live and who would die in battle. And then she would return to her natural form of a crow and watch as the fragile nature of life takes hold in the tempest of war.”
“And the way I see it two sets of armor have been laid out on the riverbed for the crone to decide between with her watchful eye. ”
“The first is Eclipse who calls for my end with all the furor of a crow’s angered calls. She wants to see me burned, flayed, blooded. And at every chance she gets, she has worked her way to making that goal happen. Be it killing my wolves, harming my mentors, or even sticking her nose in where it doesn’t belong. To have Eclipse around me is a detriment to any goal I wish to achieve for she does nothing but hone in on ending my own continued existence.”
“Though you missed your opportunity. The Morrigan looks disfavorably on those who toy with their food. For it allows them to not just survive but adapt.”
“There were times where I could’ve had the stake planted through my heart. But there’s a common factor about those times. You had the numbers advantage. Everytime you had the guts to face off with me one on one you crumbled. And so your tactics changed to try and tilt the mind games in your favor. Well allow me to put something to rest so that you don’t have to waste what little breath you have.”
“It’s not gonna work.”
“You have dragged me through hell expecting me to beg for mercy. But all you did was unlock the spirit of a warrior. Your armor wasn’t on the riverbed until your foolish actions.”
“You saw that when you stared into my eyes and didn’t see a scared child, but saw the sword of Nature. The sword that will always take it’s ounce of flesh. For I will take the role of The Morrigan and wash your armor myself in the river. And take up her mantle as a protector once again.”
“I will drown you in the river for every crime that you have committed. Every innocent that didn’t deserve it, every underhanded tactic to move yourself ahead. You will suffocate as they did. Feel the same helpless despair they did.”
“And I will not make the same mistakes you did. I will make sure you are unmoving. Make sure that the first thing you see once you emerge is the angry crow.”
“For every Eclipse must end.”
