El Mariachi Muerte walks through the once bright and lively Anthesteria, now tarnished with the effects of Civil War.
“War never changes. Most believe that this war began with the secret of that door, mi familia. But Zeus has been playing god for much longer than that…”
Guitar in hand, he strums slowly.
“And the Corporation has been enabling him all along. He may have set fire to Arcadia, but the Corporation built the matches that let it burn.”
🎵Sometimes I’m in a room where I don’t belong
And the house is on fire and there’s no alarm
And the walls are melting too
How about you?🎵
“A surgeon looks over his patient, their body open on his table. He has explained his surgical plan to the patient and their family. They have agreed to the plan, a low-risk plan that will restore the patient to health.”
“But as the patient lies before him, the surgeon decides on a different course of treatment. A higher risk surgery that he hopes will allow the patient a greater quality of life.”
He kicks the dust strewn across his home. Walking from altar to altar as he muses.
“But the patient crashed, blood pressure bottoming out and spiraling into a chain reaction that they would never recover from.”
He moves to a specific altar, dusting it off to reveal the name ‘Themis’.
“Those that believe they can play god, mi familia, are often humbled by their own mortality in the end.”
🎵I’ve never been the favorite, thought I’d seen it all
‘Til I got my invitation to the lunatic ball
And my friends are comin’ too
How about you?🎵
“You have a long history of scientific advancements, Stubbins Doom. The advancement of knowledge, at all costs. While Arcadia lay sleeping upon your surgeon’s table, you decided on whatever course of treatment you liked.”
“You broke Arcadia, one experiment at a time. All the while, in the pocket of Zeus.”
“But as Arcadia awakens, the music plays for you. It demands answers of Zeus, and of the Corporation that stands behind him.”
🎵We’re all just passing through
Passengers on a ship of fools🎵
“We should have seen the writing on the walls. Through the words and experiences of Victor Doom, through the power you gained.”
“Nobody questioned where you got the credits to fund your human experiments. You were playing god with Arcadia as your patient… making decisions you had no place making.”
He stands, strumming the guitar once, powerfully.
“Hubris is merely the symptom of being human, without the restrictions of morals.”
🎵Don’t worry, it’s all just a symptom of being human🎵
“This war has been a long time coming, but it only ever ends with Zeus and everybody who stands with him brought down from the pedestal they have put themselves on.”
Muerte balls a fist, his eyes as determined as ever.
“Those that play god, get exposed for their humanity. You are but a stepping stone for the justice Arcadia demands. The justice my mother Themis deserved.”
“Can you hear the people sing?”
