Aren’t bodies a weird thing?
Don’tcha just find yourself staring in the mirror sometimes and wondering how we all came to exist? Why we look the way we do? It’s astounding to me, it really is. I think about these things especially so because I’m in the business of freaks. I see people with unusual bodies and I make the unusual fanciful.
It really is something special, because when you think about it, by the end of my show the people watching are the freaks – they’re so enthralled by the bodies I put in front of them they’re wishing they were normal like us.
Ajax and Damien – I’ve never met a pair like them. Their bodies were made for the sort of destruction you find in the OSW ring. Have you seen Ajax pick up Damien and throw him like a lawndart? It’s magical. Honestly it’s like watching pure art being created out of nothing. And when I found them I just knew their bodies had to belong to me.
Sometimes that’s how it works. Sometimes a body just falls into your lap.
That’s how it was with Michaela. I didn’t go looking for her. I didn’t find her in some dive 50 levels down in Arcadia, like I do most of my freaks. One day I didn’t have her, the next day I did. And yet, I still get the same rush. Michaela isn’t for the same destructive world as me, Damien and Ajax, oh no. I would never subject her to that. But yet her body is still just as special in it’s own way.
I don’t mean to be disrespectful. I’m not talking about her as a piece of meat, you see. She’s not something I want to paw at, but she can twist that body of hers in so many ways that my brain just can’t handle it.
So I got to thinking. What if our body is a manifestation? What if Ajax become so strong because that was what he needed? What if Damien stopped feeling pain because he had already hurt so much? What if Michaela can contort her body so well because she wanted to get away from something so bad?
Who might that, be, Harold?
And what about you, anyway? If our bodies are a manifestation of what we need, why are you NOBODY. They say someone who is headless runs around without thinking, so does that mean you, without your body, are nothing but a head? That all you can do is think? Maybe that is what kept you away from Michaela all of these years – maybe you were thinking so hard you didn’t see what was in front of you – she didn’t need you or want you in her life any more.
So this week, when you come up against the collector of bodies, the strong body and the resilient body, in the battle to see your twisted bodied daughter, just remember why you are called NOBODY and why you have NOBODY.
This is what you wanted, Harold. You manifested this. Now you have to live with it.
