Malakai Midnight sits in front of a large table with a cup sat in a saucer on it. In his hand is a teapot.
“There was once a young boy, desperately in need of help. His village was a small one, so he ran to the only person he thought would be able to assist him. The man invited him into his home, sat him down and made him a warm drink.
The boy was quick to share his problems. Everything he kept bottled up inside came pouring out. His mother was lost, his father abandoned him – he was alone and desperate to become a hero, but afraid of what that may entail.”
He pours tea into the cup.
“As he spoke and words of doom fell from his gaping maw of sadness, the man continued pouring tea into his cup. The boy didn’t notice at first. He was so involved in his own misery and woe that he couldn’t see what was happening before his eyes.
It took the warm tea not only overflowing the cup but splattering on the floor before he paid attention.”
The water hits the floor, spilling all over.
“‘Master, you’re spilling the tea!’ he proclaimed in a panic, rushing to grab paper towels to clean up the mess.
The master watched him.
‘Like this cup, you’re so full of your own opinions, speculations and woe, that you’re unable to see the bigger picture until it’s too late. How can I teach you how to solve your problems, unless you first empty your cup?’ The master said.”
Malakai smiles.
“The boy thought he was emptying his cup. He thought by pouring his opinions out into the world that he was releasing them. The master told him he was wrong. You see, the boy’s cup remained full. It wasn’t until he had purpose to let go of it all, that his cup was finally empty and could be filled with wisdom.”
He puts down the tea pot and stares into the camera.
“Destructo Boy, I want to help you. I don’t like to see you suffer. Your father is a monster and your mother a victim, but you don’t have to be either. I know you struggle with a cup full of demons, but if you just joined me, I could help you to empty them.
That’s what becoming an Owl is. It’s about being free of the problems that plague you, so you can be filled with HIS wisdom. The Dark Lord wants you to be better.
As do I, little owl.”
