A few months ago there was this young woman who begged Dad and I for help. An ex kept bothering her, stalking her, making her life a living hell and like usual the Arcadian PD didn’t give a damn. We were the only ones who would listen so we agreed to talk to him, try and get him to leave her alone.
We expected this big, tough aggressive asshole who would fight tooth and nail against the idea, but what we got was this normal, decent seeming guy who had no idea what we were talking about, who barely know the young woman let alone seemed obsessed with her. So while Dad talked more with him, I did some digging.
Turns out there was a whole line of seemingly normal people that turned out to be depraved psychopaths around this woman, all of them convicted of seri0us crimes and turned into pariahs and monsters all on the sole testimony of one person. This vile villain crying wolf and ruining peoples lives simply because she knew her false allegations would always be listened to.
Because the people have been conditioned to want to believe the best in the innocent.
They want to believe a young fangirl was truly broken by her heroes betrayal.
They want to believe a young woman was terrified while fighting for her life against an amoral serial killer.
They want to believe the reapers malevolent darkness is what twisted and broke her to being by his side.
Because they want to believe you were the victim all along Eclipse, they need to believe there’s some good still deep inside and that someday you’ll break out from Gravedigger’s influence and be the good person you once were.
For the alternative is accepting the truth, that you were never the victim, the people who targeted you were.
Raven wasn’t strong enough, Redgrave was too depraved but Gravedigger, the powerhouse who craved love, he’s an easy patsy isn’t he?
Power and control all you desire and when it runs out, you’ve got an easy out to become the Aurora they all love and cherish once more.
But that only works if everyone believes your lie, and your biggest cheerleader burnt his pompons for good and woke up.
And I might not fight for them anymore but I’ll gladly force Arcadia to see the truth and reveal the evil piece of shit you truly are.
When they hear that every word from your mouth is and forever will be nothing but lies, that’s when your word falls apart.
You spent so long crafting this narrative of monsters victimizing you that you forget that victims need to believed. And the moment people see right through that belief, is when the illusion shatters.
The control slips.
The strings snap.
And the truth – no matter how deeply buried – finds a way of rising to the surface.
The wolf has finally come for your throat Eclipse and no matter how hard you cry, no one will ever believe you again.
And I ain’t here to save you this time, I’m here to throw you into its fucking maw.
