POP OF THE NIGHT: (What was the moment, in segment, that you enjoyed the most and why?)

BURNING QUESTIONS: (What questions does the show have you asking after reading?)

HAVE YOUR SAY: (How did you like your characters portrayal and what are your thoughts on your current storyline? What, if any, improvements could be made?)

POP OF THE NIGHT:

The massive reveal of Felix Foley being Albert Lamplights brother was really shocking. I don't know who Lamplight is, or Foley really, for that matter... but I've been here a month or so now lurking around and reading shows, and I had no idea the stories were interconnected. It was a huge shock to find out that they were and that Foley and Lamplight were related.

The Elders has been a fun read as you go back through shows and although I miscalculated who I thought would be behind it, it makes the most sense to be Zeus and Ares. Cronos being made to kill his best friend and biggest supporter for no reason was a miscarriage of justice though. Imagine doing what Zeus did to someone you love but then also manipulating them into being the worst version of themselves too. How does Zeus live with himself?

BURNING QUESTIONS:

  • What does Zeus do now or is the Elders story over?
  • How will CJ Thorpe approach Narcissa?
  • What will Foley do with Tombstone?
  • Who's the secret stable coming?

HAVE YOUR SAY:

What an amazing turn in the Lambs to the Slaughter match. I didn't expect in a million years for Mark Hayes to turn and join Malakai,  or for Malakai to have killed Mud Mouth like that. Not only that, but he implanted the cybernetics of MM too. The whole thing was crazy from start to finish and I'm really excited about the story between Raven and The Midnight Owls now. It felt like it labored a bit before Pandemonium and what happened at the event made it make sense as to why it didn't continue at 100mph. Phenomenal story telling from start to finish, honestly.

I'm disappointed I couldn't do better in Lambs. I just didn't have the right idea to execute and I posted poorly in the end. I wish I didn't, but that's the way the cookie crumbles sometimes.

POP OF THE NIGHT: (What was the moment, in segment, that you enjoyed the most and why?)

An obvious pop of the night was the reveal that Lamplight and Foley were brothers. I never saw that one coming. I also didn’t see Lamplight meeting his maker. The whole demeanor change for Foley was great and will be interesting to see how he handles Tombstone.

It was also cool to get the big reveal of who kidnapped and enhanced Mudmouth’s abilities. Unfortunately, he won’t get to do anything about it. 😃

Lastly, another pop for me was the rise of the Uprising! The group is riding high right now!

BURNING QUESTIONS: (What questions does the show have you asking after reading?)

- Will there be more to Zeus’ storyline?

- After Thorpe’s big win, what does he have in his sights in the beginning?

- What is next for Midnight’s faction?

- What does Foley do after witnessing his brother’s death?

HAVE YOUR SAY: (How did you like your characters portrayal and what are your thoughts on your current storyline? What, if any, improvements could be made?)

I honestly did not see Hayes’ turn coming. That was a great way to keep the feud fresh with the Midnight Owls. It also makes me wonder who else may join the faction. It also makes me curious of Raven’s next move seeing how his only remaining ally was killed in the river. Nice job by creative of building the storyline.

I didn’t have a great showing in the Lambs match but the character’s portrayal was spot on. Congrats to all the winners on this big show. Well deserved!

POP OF THE NIGHT:

The Elders X and XI. I've always been a fan of the timeline shifts in this story and they were executed beautifully here. The transitions between the present and past with the dramatic reveals were absolutely seamless. Many called out Ares as the potential leader of the Pantheon in the prediction thread in the week leading up to Pandemonium, and the initial segment seemed to confirm their thinking as right just prior to Hyperion being revealed as the traitor.

The cliff-hanger in the first segment was perfectly placed and carried the intense momentum into the second. Cronos' visceral reaction to Ares's accusation highlighted the gravity of Hyperion's betrayal, but the focus shifting to Zeus being the true leader of the Pantheon was the real go home moment for me. The shocking and tragic act of murdering his own father to protect Arcadia from the Elders encapsulated what this entire narrative has been about in terms of politics, loyalty, family ties, and so on, whilst Cronos' final words, in spite his own son's betrayal, expressed love if not a misguided sense of righteousness, embodying everything we've come to know about these characters.

The writing was brilliant from start to finish in my opinion, and was a perfect example of the meticulous months of planning Dean is known and so well respected for. This arc has been building from day dot and the payoff was definitely worth the wait, answering many long-standing questions in the process. Congratulations, my friend, on yet more truly great storytelling!

BURNING QUESTIONS:

  • What is CarnEVIL, and will the advertisement's hint of potential roster deaths hold true?
  • What sparked Blaze's memory causing him to direct his anger towards his son? Is it simply more of Nox’s potions influencing his thoughts, or is there a different factor at play this time?
  • How will Felix Foley respond to Tombstone’s murder of Albert Lamplight, and will this incident retrigger his Scissors persona in the long run.

HAVE YOUR SAY:

Troy’s grandstanding and Ramsey’s grateful (albeit naive) acceptance in the segment entitled Welcome Home were somewhat predictable following Zion’s Child successful rescue operation last time out. However, the climax of the piece when Troy's follower handed their Reverend the mysterious letter noticeably shifted Troy’s demeanour. I anticipated that the hinting of troubling news would provide a nice hook for longer-term future developments, however we only had to wait until the Lambs to Slaughter match itself to get our answers.

What a fascinating swerve, albeit one I'd always had a bit of a hunch on. Given that Ramsey has always had somewhat of a penchant for digging the dirt on Arcadia's biggest scandals, it felt as though this scenario was always a possibility - and believe me when I say I was praying (no pun intended) to see it unfold at some stage.

The road to Ring of Dreams for both these characters just opened up significantly, and I for one cannot wait to see how this pans out from and comes to a head there.

POP OF THE NIGHT: (What was the moment, in segment, that you enjoyed the most and why?

So many moments to choose from. Here's my top 3

  1. THE RAMSEY REVEAL: Colt Ramsey playing the long game for his journalistic integrity, after everything that's happened to him is pretty amazing. infiltrating right to the heart of Lionel Troy is a great reveal and it makes one really wonder what Troy's retaliation is going to be in the aftermath.
  2. THE CASH IN: I was so happy for Bryno, but then the cash in happened. Love a good briefcase opportunity and Narcissa definitely took one here. Well done!
  3. FOLEY'S BROTHER: I knew the brother was going to be somebody we knew, but this is amazing in two ways. Firstly, that it ties in a few storylines together, morphing the lore into something amazing. Secondly, that is continues the Tombstone angle in such a beautifully destructive way. Can't wait for that!
  4. Honourable Mention: That heartfelt, kinda unexpectedly so ending between Cronos and Zeus.

BURNING QUESTIONS: (What questions does the show have you asking after reading?)

What is going to happen to the Odyssey Pool now that Doom's Factory has been burnt down, and by whom?

We saw the red return to Foley, the light in his eyes is a callback definitely to the red light we used to see. Will Tombstone be the victim here somehow? How will he survive whatever Foley is going to do to him next?

HAVE YOUR SAY: (How did you like your characters portrayal and what are your thoughts on your current storyline? What, if any, improvements could be made?)

I'm putting all things LTTS here, as the match was epic enough that it kinda deserves its own feedback.

The step up from 20 to 45 was insane. The entries just kept coming! I loved all the reveals of new characters, some really interesting people that I enjoyed seeing. Jackdaw was amazing and will be so much fun for matchwriters.

There was so much storyline involved in everything to do with the match, it really is a masterpiece each year and this was one of the very very best.

It had everything... From betrayal to teamwork, to us finally seeing the source of the radio music that had everybody speculating.

Amazing, take a freaking bow Dean Mason.

As for my characters: VISION: Seeing him come out during the Narcissa cashin was a personal pop for me. Great moment, and followed up by going way deeper than I ever thought with him in lambs.

EMM: I thought he was noteably absent, then he came out at 45 and I knew something cool was going to happen. To be second... Wow. That's amazing.

MR SUNSHINE: Loved the character work here, really interesting to see his approach to 'fighting' in the ring. Awesome!

POP OF THE NIGHT:

Loved the Elders segs. It was a big pop for me the way Cronos handled Hyperion. It showed that beneath the calm exterior, papa bear had snapped. And when Zeus finally did what he had to do, there wasn't anger, just love. It was a really well-handled moment that shows the path Zeus took to get where he ended up. I'm curious what happens next. How does the Purge go down? Or will we even find out.

BURNING QUESTIONS:

How many of the surprise entrants are we going to see again? And when?

Will Blaze take a moment to let his son talk some sense into him?

Who is coming at CarnEVIL?

Will Colt Ramsey make it back on top with his story about Troy?

Who burned down the Pool?

HAVE YOUR SAY:

Gemini - Absolutely love the way Gemini (and Drewitt for that matter) both had these flashbacks leading to their elimination. Great way to carry the Apokalypsis story forward.

TBS - Damnit. We couldn't save Falc. The worse news is that Mr. Kleen is the ACA leader. Black Panther is fucking Sebastian Boswick. I didn't see it coming. It explains why he didn't talk, and really the whole ordeal. Brilliant storytelling.

C.J. Thorpe - Holy. Shit. I was just hoping for a top 5. To win the biggest Lambs match is a huge honor to me. It's a huge moment both in and out of character. For C.J, I think it ends the idea of him being the third (fourth?) wheel in the Jackson/Jasper/Harold issue. He's his own man, he's here to kick ass and take names. Him helping Narcissa win the World Championship and then end up winning Lambs means the Uprising has a firm grip on the biggest prize going into the season finale. Just wonderful.

POP OF THE NIGHT: Very tough choice here, I flip flopped on two big stories but it has to be the Elders X and XI here. The whole tale so far of the history of Arcadia, Zeus letting it all out to Hercules has always felt like Zeus confessing his sins. And the night Cronos died felt like possibly the biggest of them all. The slow reveal with the old leaders in people like Calypso and Crius dying brutally, the reveal of the leader in Ares, the betrayal and subsequent murder of Hyperion and the stab in the back by Zeus. A true classic tale here that both fits in the traditional demise of Cronos at the hands of his own children and the possible future demise of Zeus himself for revealing the truth.

Not sure if we'll get anything more with the Elders story (there's a little more missing with the Purge details and Zeus properly taking the throne) but if not, a brilliant way to cap off the flashback and a pivotal moment that will absolutely come back to haunt Zeus in the end.

BURNING QUESTIONS: Far, far too many to mention but a few that absolutely captured me completely

  • Who attempted to burn down the Doom Factory and is the Pool lost forever?
  • Who or what is coming at Carnevil and who are they recruiting to meet him?
  • How far has Tombstone delved into his darkness with the death of Lamplight? What will Felix do to the man that killed his brother in front of him and what is Igor Mortis's role in this whole soon to be bloody feud?

HAVE YOUR SAY:

Victor Doom: Well fuck, I absolutely loved the idea of him and Dahlia being the Abominations for the few moments before Black betrayed Victor for his dad. While I don't think Victor burned down the Factory, I do know for a fact with this latest brutal blow from the elder Doom, Victor's coming for blood. I anticipate a lot of death in the next few weeks and a true monster coming for his creator at ROD which I am 1000% down for.

Destructo Boy: So I fully anticipated father vs. son to happen again at ROD, the whole season has been building up to it in some fashion or another but I didn't quite think it'd happen this way with Blaze believing the Kid had anything to do with his own mothers death. Is this whatever concoction Nox brewed up still messing with his mind? Possibly. Could this have just been an accident by James that he's been trying to gain redemption for ever since? Possibly. Either way, the vengeful Blaze hunting for a fight that Destructo Boy wants nothing to do with, this is gonna be fun and I cannot wait for this next month heading into ROD to see what happens next.

POP OF THE NIGHT: So there's so many really good moments, but I think personally Seeing Red takes the absolute cake for the event. We had two seperate storylines come together, winding up into one of the most major reveals of a character connection that was then instantly shattered as Tombstone fuckin killed Lamplight in front of Foley as he just had found out that was his brother. Of all things, I think this is the kind of a feud that really pops at Ring of Dreams and takes it all the way to Red Snow, and it was such a wonderful end to a fantastic show through and through.

BURNING QUESTIONS:

  • Who were the two gentlemen that wanted to have them ready by Carnevil?
  • Who set Doom's Factory ablaze?
  • How will Lionel Troy act now that everything's been shown to be a falsehood from Ramsey?
  • Will Robbie still be (and I quote) "The Two Title Bitch?" or will Narcissa loose one in the coming months?

HAVE YOUR SAY: I can't say that I truly expected Red Falcon to survive, but this whole piece was done absolutely fantastically! From the match itself to the segment of Red Falcon, it was hitting all the right emotional beats and moments to truly settle itself into place as one of the best twists. And then the parts in Lambs to the Slaughter came through, that Mr. Kleen was behind it all. That it was Sebastian, a character I hadn't even considered around beneath the mask of the Black Panther, was just a wonderful highlight. Fantastic night for YP, who made it a lot farther in the night than I had actually expected.

And surprise, I'm taking the reigns of Candy Kane! I had a blast writing the promo, setting the right sort of tone you'd want and she had a good run for a new character in the madness that was the match there. Looking forward to more promos with her for sure!

POP OF THE NIGHT: (What was the moment, in segment, that you enjoyed the most and why?)

RECORDS ARE MADE TO BE BROKEN!

LTTS this whole match was pop after fucking pop.  I don't know how Dean does this all especially being ill going into this show.  He is our creative Michael Jordan (I hope enough people get that reference) to write at this level so consistently, roleplay, and give us a 45-participant Rumble-style lottery match that gets turned Hell in a Cell.  I cannot tell you how much events like this and I say Events because it's so much more than a match a single match.  There is so much story, the reveal of Boswick as the Black Panther, Colt's long con, and the numerous debuts.  This whole match was worthy of being the pop of the night.

BURNING QUESTIONS: (What questions does the show have you asking after reading?)

What will Felix do next?  Will he revert back to Scissors to take on Tombstone, in a monster vs. monster style match?

What is Lionell going to do to Colt?  Will he seek to crucify the Journo?

Did Destructo Boy start the fire, is he the one to blame, is that why Blaze is so pissed at him?

What fate does CarnEVIL hold for OSW and its wrestlers?

What's left for Doom to come back to?  Will the Odyssey Pool be intact?

HAVE YOUR SAY: (How did you like your characters portrayal and what are your thoughts on your current storyline? What, if any, improvements could be made?)

Harold Attano: The Phrase, "It was good while it lasted" comes to mind here.  I worked for four years here to get to the OSW World Championship and to get at least one defense of the title against someone like Jasper Redgrave and then to go down swinging for the fences made Attano look like the badest ass in all of OSW.  Plus the way he came across during the LTTS Match after going through what he did was just the cherry on top.  Again Congrats to Robbie, he worked fucking hard to get to where he is with Narcissa, and I can't express how happy I am for him.

Nox: Congrats again to Zac, it's not the first time I dropped a Championship to him and I will hope to Reignite our old Chronoa and Impaler chemistry from here.  But Nox has come across as an unsympathetic monster this year and tonight was no different.  I want to see how he continues to develop into a villain surrounded by heroes.

POP OF THE NIGHT:

Can I just say the entirety of the Lambs to the Slaughter match? Like, we had 45 characters show up in one match and in said match we had more immense spots, character moments, and it culminated in what could be considered  OSW's most disenheartning moment as we have to realize that the Uprising has the OSW Championship well quarantined going into Ring of Dreams.

Like, this match was HUGE. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING on the show matches up with it. The closest that compares happens to be the Invasion which lead to the big ending of Lambs to the Slaughter as Narcissa got her hands on the world title. Like, this show as a whole was the Uprising's from start to finish I feel like.

If I had to choose a single storyline to focus on otherwise, though, it would be the big reveal of Lamplight and Foley being brothers. Absolutely massive swerve going into ROD.

BURNING QUESTIONS:

  • What's next for Felix now that he's seen Tombstone kill his brother?
  • Did Destructo Boy cause that fire?
  • Who set the Doom Factory itself ablaze?
  • What's next for Zeus after he revealed the end of the story to Hercules?
  • What the hell is next for Kleen now that he's had Falcon killed and revealed himself as leader of the ACA?

HAVE YOUR SAY:

Jackson Cade: Poor Cade really can't seem to get ahead. I loved his interactions with Attano/Thorpe/Redgrave in Lambs, and I especially liked him coming to try and even the odds during the Invasion. Really excited to see how this continues into next month and next season with Vendetta.

Drewitt: Not much to say here. But I am VERY interested to know more about his boy Colt possibly being alive after that apparent premonition in the match.
