Warzone #376

PreviousPage 2 of 2

TOP THREE MOMENTS:

1. The Ferryman's Knock takes the top spot. Tombstone breaking into the mortuary and kidnapping(?) Igor Mortis was a scarily badass sight. Especially when he took that scalpel to the head like a champ and calmly removed it like it was nothing. Will Igor even be alive by the time next week rolls around? Can't wait to find out!

2. Broken Home takes the next spot. Damn, DOOM's really not fucking around when it comes to getting rid of all his problems. Dude blew up Felix's house and set fire to the remains with a single drone strike. Worse yet, his mom's been taken sometime during the ensuing explosion. Will she also still be alive when we see her next? I hope so, but I'm on the edge of my seat to see Foley kick his ass!

3. The golden ticket being given to Hatchet gets this spot for me. We almost saw Ares overwhelmed and taken down by the Gathering. Had it not been for the arrival of Klaus Way and his Unnaturals, he probably would've been killed right then and there. I also liked how Ares choked him out after being welcomed by Hatchet's posse as a warning. Well deserved for a guy like Hatchet, tbh. Can't wait to see how he and Destructo will fit into the Invasion feud now!

BURNING QUESTIONS:

What will Gravedigger do to rescue Igor Mortis from Tombstone's clutches? Can he even be saved at all? Is this a part of Igor's plan to get rid of Tombstone once and for all? I'm not sure, but we're starting one hell of a wild ride here, and I can't wait for it to take off.

Will Jackson be able to simply talk with Redgrave after being taunted by the Artist? Will there even be a match at Invasion between the two if Cade so much as lays a finger on his mortal enemy? I hope so, but knowing how much of a hardass Scott Sterling is, I wouldn't be surprised if he calls it off. Fingers crossed he doesn't though.

MY FAVOURITE PROMO OF THE WEEK:

I quite liked Hatchet's Promise this week. The callback to the deal he made with Nox being broken was a nice way to lay out how every single promise made to Grimskull blew up in the Preacher's face. I also liked the ending run where he made false promises not to absolutely fuck him up, since, according to Hatchet, he's too gullible to realize they're going to be broken. It was an awesome promo and a fun read overall.

HAVE YOUR SAY:

Night's acting as a photographer for the Seekers, eh? I can't say the role doesn't fit him, since the Enigma absolutely strikes me as the kind of guy that would take pictures from the shadows. He was also a key figure in getting the info that Narcissa planted the seeds of doubt into Drewitt and Grimskull to the other members of the Seekers. With Night and Attano going to confront Nox and Narcissa next week, I have to wonder if the other two members of Apokalypsis will get involved against them too? Guess we'll have to wait and see if they can counter offer something that they both would like or not.

TOP THREE MOMENTS:

1.The Breaker of Chains, the setup for the show and definitely an interesting setup for Gravedigger. This is an intriguing way to start the show, the immortality of Drewitt being a way to end the immortality of Tombstone. I wonder if it will actually happen.

2. Faith, the dialogue between Graves and Destructo was fun and a cool way to reveal the golden tickets of Invasion to each other. As someone who's averse to the way Graves does things, it's nice to see Destructo clap back with the words.

3. Delicacies, what a twisted segment in the best of ways. Cannibalism in the form of wolf and Savor seems more than pleased to try. Will it actually happen?

BURNING QUESTIONS:

How broken is Sunshine now?

Who is the Zookeeper?

Where's Momma Foley

MY FAVOURITE PROMO OF THE WEEK:

I didn't get to read them this week, busy one so I want to give more detailed ones next week.

HAVE YOUR SAY:

Definitely enjoyed her presence in the segment this week, slimy and smart in the best of ways, showing her power through Zeus. I'm definitely intrigued by what's in the emvelope.

TOP THREE MOMENTS:

1. The Ferryman's Knock The return of Tombstone was fantastic and something I've been looking forward to. It did not disappoint and therefore takes my top spot this week.
2. Broken Home I've been waiting for the foot to drop on this feud for a while now and it looks like we're finally about to head that way. This was a great way to start us down that path and i look forward to more.
3. The Conversation Begins Ive been waiting to see more and more of the other side of Sunshine and this delivered. I do wonder what his backstory is going to be and just what the hell is going on with him?

BURNING QUESTIONS:

Can Gravedigger rescue Igor?
Where's Mrs. Foley?
What's going on with Sunshine?

MY FAVOURITE PROMO OF THE WEEK:

Whisper on a Scream: Another class effort from Connor. I'm so glad to see Tombstone back.

HAVE YOUR SAY:

After this week, I can't wait for Invasion. Not only for my own match but there's a cracker of a payperview in store for us all. We're looking at a Red Snow sized Invasion and I am here for it! I am really looking forward to that Invasion match as well, that is going to be a very interesting one that I'm sure a lot of eyes will be on. Sorry for being so absent recently, I've just had a lot going on at home that I'd rather not talk about it. But I figured I'd take the time here this week to say I'm so excited for Invasion!

TOP THREE MOMENTS:

(Three moments of the show that stood out to you and why.)

  1. I really liked the blood reveal in "Vial-able". It really shows just how messed up Redgrave can be, over and above just killing. He's a verifiable psychopath, and that is great! I'll lump in Just a Prick here too, which ramps up the psychopathy once again, and gets us back to the gallery and it's exhibits, which is a huge part of the character.
  2. Broken Home - Foleys, both Felix and Momma, can't catch a break! Doom is a true villain, isn't he? I know we often say that it's never has black and white as heel or face in OSW, but I think Doom is the closest to a full heel we have had over the course of this volume, and this just reinforces that.
  3. The Ferryman's Knock, of course! What an interesting segment, that shows the renewed power Tombstone has even though he is no longer the official Ferryman. Really fun twist that he no longer needs to travel on the boat when "killed".

BURNING QUESTIONS:

(What questions has the show left you with?)

  • How would Gravedigger begin to even THINK about "killing" Tombstone, given is recent interaction with the reaper? Or will this be a "fate worse than death" kind of situation?
  • Is Eclipse a cannibal, or was she talking figuratively and just wants Ayame dead in code language?
  • Mighty Mighty has the ability to SNARL!? Impossible, he's the happy happy guy!

MY FAVOURITE PROMO OF THE WEEK:

(Which promo was your favourite of the week?)

Do The Job was a very well structured typical themed promo, I really enjoyed it.

HAVE YOUR SAY:

(How did you like your characters portrayal and what are your thoughts on your current storyline? What, if any, improvements could be made?)

Klaus:

Golden Shower was interesting - on this segment alone you'd think Klaus is leaning more towards the Preservationists, but if we know our boy at all he's a Wild Card, and I hope this is just a swizz to keep them on side for a particular purpose, yet to be exposed. I'm looking forward to potentially a bit of a programme with Hatchet, facepaint vs facepaint and all that!

Drewitt:

In Complications we see Drewitt and Grimskull understandably question last weeks little reunion.  I thought it might not be quite the family reunion it first appeared to be, but I'm not sure I was expecting Narcissa, one of the key figures in incarcerating them, to be the one that turned their heads. Hopefully they stay aligned to the Seekers, regardless of if they believe Muerte or not, as I feel that their allegiances would suit the Seekers more. Interesting to see the war room scene in Solutions too.

TOP THREE MOMENTS:

(Three moments of the show that stood out to you and why.)

  1. Faith. As someone who loves to hate Graves, that was a great 'haha get fucked' moment. You just KNOW that left him apoplectic with rage for the rest of the damn day, it was brutal.
  2. Broken Home. Speaking of love to hate... Doom is an absolute cockwomble, and you just can't help but feel for Foley and his momma. I find myself genuinely concerned about how this will end for the poor gal, and knowing Doom, nothing is off the table. I'm hoping for the 'good' ending, but this is Arcadia, so...
  3. Delicacies. I made sure to re-read it a few times as the very first time I missed some of the double-speak and implications of what was being said, and I knew it - appreciated it much more after a few more goes through. Also, strange bedfellows, eh?

BURNING QUESTIONS:

  • If both Gravy and Tombstone are immortal, how will this even end? Obviously some outside factor will have to change rather than them just engaging in a straight fight the whole time, but what IS that factor? How will one or both lose their immortality?
  • What is Sunshine's deal? Everyone knows the mask has slipped, yet he still continues to wear it. What's the game plan?
  • Who did The Night lose at the hands of Narcissa?
  • Grimskull and Drewitt aren't gonna be swayed by Narcissa, right? RIGHT?

MY FAVOURITE PROMO OF THE WEEK:

Whisper On A Scream for me. I'm sure we've all heard the cliches about how it is the 'quiet man' whose violence you should fear, but none of those sayings carry the menace that Connor put down into words in making that same point. Top stuff.

HAVE YOUR SAY:

Considering things haven't been going great for her in straight up fights, it is very fitting that Eclipse is scheming and plotting instead to get what she wants and deal with her problems. As mentioned in the top three moments, LOVED the double-speak between her and Anton, it lends the character a level of intelligence that I don't always manage to portray in my writing.

TOP THREE MOMENTS:

(Three moments of the show that stood out to you and why.)

  1. Broken Home. We finally get a proper kickstart to the DOOM/Foley rivalry and holy shit what a start. Felix seems to have an idea on what to do about Stubbins when DOOM blows up his goddamn house and kidnaps his mother to boot. DOOM doesn't fuck around but the one thing that pisses off old Felix most is hurting his momma so this is definetly about to get bloody and I'm all for it.
  2. Just a Prick. The little tease with the 'he ain't heavy' vial of blood was a complete dick move by Jasper but that...oooh boy. I agree with how somehow said DOOM might be our biggest evil with what he just did to his supposed best friend but Stubbins is cold and calculated, Jasper is an evil that loves every fucking second of the pain he inflicts and now he's dragging Jackson right back into the Gallery where he tormented him all so long ago. That combined with Jackson not being able to hurt Jasper before Invasion...there's some shit going down next week.
  3. The Ferrymans Knock. With the former Ferryman back in the world of the living kinda, we knew he was coming straight for the two who betrayed him and here he did. Coming for Mortis's throat, laying out everything he wants back, it seems he's absolutely found Gravedigger's weakness here especially given it was his own in Igor and the continuation next week is going to be huge.

BURNING QUESTIONS:

  • Will Gravedigger be able to do what Tombstone and Igor couldn't with Drewitt or do they have an even bigger immortal threat on their hands?
  • Could the Gathering have taken down Ares if Klaus hadn't interfered and will that come back to fuck over Hatchet one day?
  • Can Nox and Narcissa break up Apokolypsis with their little sabotage or will this just strengthen their resolve to open the door once and for all?
  • Will DOOM destroying his house and kidnapping his mom be the thing that finally makes Felix snap?
  • Can Jackson hold his rage back one week and not ruin his championship chances at Invasion?

MY FAVOURITE PROMO OF THE WEEK:

As much as I loved the Tombstone promo, I'm going with Evil Always Wins here. Brian has absolutely stepped the hell up these past months and every promo with Jasper has been on absolute fire lately, this being no exception at all.

HAVE YOUR SAY:

Reverend Graves huh? Intriguing, not a storyline I would have thought for DB but one I'm very intrigued in. Graves doing his whole speel about God, the golden ticket and all only for Destructo to reveal one of his own was a great clapback and it definetly seems like the Anti-Hero has no time for Graves bullshit. Assuming it's just a story woven into Invasion (Which I'm absolutely hyped as fuck for being involved in the last one for this volume) I'd love for this to continue past it because there's a lot of potential here and I'm very intrigued to see what tactics Grave uses to try and bring this very unwilling Destructo into his flock.
