Just an Excuse

There was once a simple woman fascinated in the mystical arts. There was no malice in her intrigue, just curiosity and the need to educate those around her yet they treated her with scorn and malice for her virtues, and eventually slayed the faux monster draped over an innocents soul.

There was also once a young man. Haunted by one bad day, he tried everything he could to redeem himself only to be mocked, ridiculed, taunted and told flat out he would never do so as his failures lead to the devil himself winning and dragging him to the black.

Everyone’s had that one moment, that one heart wrenching, soul crushing event that brings you to the lowest point of existence. You fall to your knees in agony, the weight of overwhelming emptiness threatening to tear you apart as it feels the whole world is against you.

In those moments, the light a mere blip in the distance, it’s so easy to allow the darkness to strip apart the humanity, to swallow you whole and become just another monster decimated by a broken world.

I get it Calypso I really do. I understand why what they did to you broke something inside, how the good woman was ripped apart through malice and fear and became the monster they thought she was. I know how that in that black it’s too easy to embrace it and allow the lies to envelop your soul.

Been there, done that and nearly lost everything in the process. Six months ago, the Blackheart might well have joined you in your vengeance, would’ve agreed that humanity needed to be razed for this world to start again but that path is the easy one.

Fighting back up, dragging yourself towards the light and getting to your feet as you prove them all wrong, that’s the hardest thing you can ever do. And you never had the strength to avoid the easy path did you mon cher?

You let your hatred and desire for vengeance weigh you down, you allowed the twisted whispers of the dead ferry you away to a destination you can never truly escape from. Because it was never about those who took your life, they were just an excuse to give into the black and let your anger consume you whole.

First it was Narcissa, then it was Anton, but what when it’s good people who don’t deserve your rage? How will you justify your vengeance then pauvre bete? Or has the big man’s poison weaved so far into your mind you cannot see the light anymore?

So come at me mon cher, show me the wicked black magic woman who deserved death and I’ll see you the hero who sees beyond. The hero who shines on the one thing you have forgotten as he pulls that light just a little bit closer.

You have a choice Calypso, who do you choose to follow? The malevolent broken man who offers only vengeance or the dumb, bright eyed kid with the hope of saving everyone.

Especially you.
