A light flickers in a dim place, shining a light infrequently down on a scene of madness. A peg board hangs beneath, red lines crossing across names, images, and more in a wave. Two faces sit in the middle, one of the Zookeeper and the other of Ayame. In the flickering light, in front of the mess, is a familiar face tensed to to the fullest it can be.
“I’ve been struggling, trying to find anything that can’t tie you into it. Innocent until proven guilty. But I look again and again, and all I can see are the ties.”
He rushes forward, hands tapping on a photo as if to show to anyone that he wasn’t losing it, even perhaps himself.
“Your name, the ties they have out there to the greater world. The whole thing about being bound to a wolf is just within the branches. I’ve found nothing that says you weren’t there in a mask, nothing saying that you’re just a victim.”
“Look at those you’ve attacked,” he rambles, pointing to pictures of various wrestlers, “Attempts made at de-stabilizing factions time and time again. Your paws covering and intervening, seemingly at random at first. But the claws you cut with leave tears across all of Arcadia!”
“Even your origins don’t make sense. Office worker who fought off demons and gained the power of a wolf? No, no that’s too fantastical. There are no unprotected parks, just you hiding in plain site, stalking around and taking down those that get in your way.”
The chuckle rings out, deseperate and clawing its way into the silence of the room like a wolf with a fresh kill.
“See, here’s the thing: they did that bit already. Zookeeper’s shown his hand! Did that way back at Red Snow, showed that the snakes hid in the grass and pretended to be the normal people. Nobody’s safe anymore, no one’s to be trusted. And you just happen to have a wolf name with a fake sounding backstory while the truth is out there. I will find it, that connection that should be simple at first .”
“This ain’t my first rodeo, and by sure it won’t be my last. I’ve got weapons stashed around the house this time. I’ve been watching you, breaking you down until you go mad and unleash yourself like you did. That was the plan, simple in heart and yet so terrifying effective.”
“Why march into the wolves den when you can lure it out to the open and take care of it once and for all. For the good of Arcadia!!”
“Yes, if you take care of the roaming mutts that stalk the halls, then everyone can sleep safer. Just gotta put the dog into the dog pound for good this time!
The manaical laughter returns, echoing around as he laughs to an audience only he can hear. The camera pulls away, zooming in onto the face of Wolffang Ayame beforethe lights flicker, and shadow swallows us all.
