Narcissa Balenciaga leans against a brick wall twirling a popsicle stick.
“A popsicle stick, something you normally don’t think about even when it’s in your hands. For most people, it’s simply a handle to a treat. The functional partner of the fashionable dessert.”
“Some use it for more the just the structural stability of a saccharine snack. Teachers will use it as an example for construction and let students wield them as the material for an architectural advancement. For them, it’s not just a popsicle stick, it’s a wooden beam for the buildings that make Arcadia grand.”
Narcissa waves her hands to present what some students have built, plenty of skyscrapers, some bridges, and a few unique individuals made structures like lighthouses or wild buildings that would never exist in the real world.
“These popsicle stick creations started as one stick that was lucky to support one treat, together they can make buildings that can withstand the weight of a human being.”
Narcissa says as she walks on a bridge.
“Now, while this is impressive, it shouldn’t be seen as surprising. Anything, you can theoretically stack together is going to be stronger as a collective than as an individual. That is just a classic law of nature. What’s surprising is the other capability of these simple sticks.”
“You see another simple rule about most things is what can be created, can be destroyed. Many things, natural or artificial, are made to withstand the day to day elements life throws at them. All have a weakness though and the popsicle stick is no different. “
Narcissa pulls out a lighter.
“Of course, fire is the antagonist of all wooden creations yet there is no slow burn when it comes to these. A truth is these sticks is to keep every little bit of wood together is to have wood glue in between. Congratulations, you turned a childhood treat into an incendiary bomb. Now one spark is difference between a quick burn and a lawsuit.”
She flicks the lighter and has the flame barely touch one of the sticks, it doesn’t just catch on fire, it combusts, along with every stick it’s attached to.
“One spark and what was once so structurally sound is nothing more than ash.”
“Tombstone and Redgrave, you are two of the most impressive men in all of OSW, one of you is the most dominant world champion I have ever seen, any team with you two should be a formidable structure near impossible to take down. Nero doesn’t need to be a former world champ to help you withstand things, he just has to not mess up.”
“He’s not the one I’m worried about for you three, Redgrave while formidable, you are one of the most volatile men I have ever met, if you are the glue keeping you three together, it won’t take much to make sure you destroy everyone close to you. Just a simple spark i can easily trigger should do it.”
Narcissa walks away, buildings replaced by a bonfire behind her.
