Suspicious Minds

El Mariachi MuerteEMM, Promo

♫ We’re caught in a trap
I can’t walk out… ♫

An Anthestrian Standoff is a deadlock with several parties, all armed and all staring each other down. No one shoots, because if one fires, everyone falls.

If I shoot, another will shoot me.

So we are caught. Trapped.

Unable to walk away.

But unable to shoot. ¡No mames!

Such an Anthestrian Standoff only ends one of two ways… Negotiation, or total destruction.

It all depends if one is stupid enough to pull the trigger.

♫ Why can’t you see
What you’re doing to me
When you don’t believe a word I say? ♫

Ours is a song we have sung before. A dance we have each danced many times.

But each time we dance this dance and sing this song, it becomes more personal. And deep down, mis compadres, we know how this song ends.

It ends as it always has. Destruction. Because this tango we dance, it is a trap.

It is the love song of the heavy heart. The ballad of scorned souls. And scorned hearts don’t listen to reason.

You can’t negotiate with heartbreak.

And when you can’t be reasoned with… there is only one path left.

♫ We can’t go on together
With suspicious minds ♫

Grimskull. You nearly killed me once.

Not with bullet but with blade. I hear the pain still so raw in your voice as you remember that door being shut upon you.

But somehow, against all odds, our songs both still play.

I carry the scars as a reminder of your broken heart. But if you shoot, I will shoot back.

And you know that.

That’s why you won’t fire.

Drewitt. With a gun at my head, it’s safe to say our friendship is… strained.

You hold in your hands the power to end my song. But we both know why you won’t pull that trigger.

Because the very thing that bullet would do to me… is the one thing it can’t do to you. You’d sooner turn the gun on yourself, praying that this is the one bullet you can’t outlive.

You may hate me, amigo. But deep down, you know we need each other.

And that’s why you won’t fire either.

♫ Here we go again
Asking where I’ve been
You can’t see these tears are real ♫

So the question remains.

Am I the one stupid enough to shoot first? Am I the one who is willing to bring about the inevitable destruction?

You see, mis compadres, all it takes to end an Anthestrian Standoff is one shot to be fired, then it sets off a chain reaction that cannot be undone.

At Ring of Dreams, one way or another, our standoff ends.

I have pleaded with you both to look beyond our past and move forward.

I offered you peace and got nothing but bitterness.

So there is only one other way I can end  this Anthestrian Standoff, when all other options have run out.

Total and absolute destruction.

All I have to do is pull that trigger and Apokalypsis finally dies.
