The Truth In the Mirror

There were once three men who all couldn’t have been more different.

One a sociopathic businessman who used his connections and every shortcut he could to remain under a facade that the public loved.

One a beloved man of the law who tried his best to do the right thing but the darkness hiding in the light and the lengths he had to go to protect the innocent began to break the purity in his soul.

And the other… a man drenched in misfortune and injustice who hit rock bottom and made it his lives mission to destroy those he deemed responsible for everything terrible in his life.

Of Avarice, Complacency and Vengeance, these three couldn’t have been more different. But they all had one thing in common.

The reflection of Truth was too hard to accept because the Lie was so convenient.

So tell me Night, when was the last time you looked in the mirror or are you terrified of your reflection?

A man who was amongst the scum of society, who leeched off the innocent and good and got thrown out with the rest of the trash but someone avoided the flames and came out seemingly reborn.

A vigilante who rose from the ashes and swore he would drag those thriving in the dark back into the light, but somewhere along the way his personal vendetta overrode his proclamations of salvation.

A broken boy angry and bitter about the failures of his own life so he blames the villain of convenience, even as every piece of evidence deems otherwise.

The fool who ignores the whispers breathing behind his ears, the figure that flashes in the light out of the corner of his eye, the lingering reality omnipresent in the back of his mind.

You can claim that your act of Vengeance is for the people, all the innocents who suffered on that horrible day and all you want is for the vile Gemini to get what she deserves.

But where does it stop after Gemini? Do you go after Muerte who clearly was by her side at the time? Do you go after Zeus as the rumour it was all orchestrated by him lingers in the air?

Or will you find excuses to hunt the lesser evils as you continue to ignore the truth about your every action?

The Red Light Bombing was a tragedy orchestrated by vile people using a broken woman as a scapegoat but you don’t care.

Because it’s always been an excuse for you to rampage about your self inflicted personal tragedy.

You’re just a junkie who should’ve got what he deserved and because you survived somehow, you need to make it everyones problem.

But unlike you, I’m here to save Arcadia before you go too far.

So watch as Hope itself tears off your mask of castigation, forces you to look at the demon staring back and acknowledge the truth you refuse to see.

As the real hero stands up and forces you to look at the person who deserves the Nights Vengeance.
