Truthful Intentions

What is rarely pure and simple? What can set one man free and drag another into the abyss? What weapon can destroy good and empower evil with a mere misguided whisper?

The Truth when it is given by a fool who thinks he’s doing the right thing.

Your crusade was born of good intentions but the problem with hiding behind a screen is your view becomes twisted and warped by the limited information you see. The messages you take in are wrapped in black and white with little wiggle room for the grey.

Some people do deserve for their dirty little secrets to be dragged into public knowledge, some people deserve for their world to be torn apart by the court of public opinion.

But who decides where the light should shine?

Imagine a simple man living a life of mediocrity on one of the less dangerous levels of Arcadia.

He minds his own business, doesn’t cause harm to anyone around him and tries to do the right thing in a world of murk.

Yet one day he has the opportunity to walk a darker path. Commit one vile and detestable act to ensure he and his kin have their own little slice of heaven.

It doesn’t hurt a single soul in the long run and while inarguably an evil, it is a lesser one and the only harm it causes is the guilt wracking the mans soul.

Does the truth set him free or does it destroy him completely?

And what right do you have to bring his truth into the light?

See the thing is you may claim your intentions are good Nero, that all you want is to make Arcadia a better place but the static you view this world through isn’t pure.

It’s corrupted by jealousy and rage, by a single desire to destroy one man no matter who you hurt in the process.

Sure it begins with targeting the dark and twisted, by unveiling truths about Savor and Graves, but how long until a good person who made a mistake comes your way?

How long until the truths you claim are twisted with fabrication and lies? How long until you justify destroying a good man for the greater good?

Zeus was once a good man after all, just someone who wanted to protect his people from the harsh reality that was thrust upon him.

So the little white lies, the protective fabrications, all the myths and legends passed through the levels, they were all used for the greater good.

Because like it or not, Arcadia was stable, it was better. Until a holier then though fool uttered the truth to the world, believing they deserved to know.

And now you want to quell the chaos, unite the frightened and angered through more truths. No matter what it costs.

Because the truth is Nero, you’re no better then Zeus at all. A broken, pathetic piece of shit that uses the excuse of the greater good to hurt those around him.

That truth may hurt but the lie you told about my father mother fucker, that one will devour you whole.
