When nobody pays attention

Have you ever gone out in public to find yourself distracted by the incessant noise of a child that is not your own?

Regardless of their own parents being around, they focus all of their attention on the world around then and scream with every fiber of their vocal cords?

Their parents know the difference so they can ignore it, let the energy drain out of their small vessel.

If it was an actual emergency, they would be there.

Yet you don’t know that difference and the high-pitched screams bother you to the point where you have to do something.

You go to the child and as any empathetic person would, you ask if everything is okay.

Like magic, hearing those words and getting the crumb of attention it was begging for was enough and they’ll smile, say yeah, and practically skip to their parents knowing they got what they wanted.

They pulled on your heartstrings and used your humanity to get what they wanted, wish I could say these sorts of actions stop in childhood but when rewarded, they become the worst type of adult.

Its why some people speak despite lack of interest at most points and don’t say anything the moment people actually want to hear it.

They don’t want to share any real information, any knowledge they actually have even if you have specifically requested it.

All they want is to be heard or more accurately, they just want your attention.

Like a child that constantly cries until the moment you let them know you’re aware of their presence.

That energy not only screams Colt Ramsay in every facet of his life, it screams the uprising as well.

Can’t you see the similarities?

They call themselves the voice of the people, he calls his paper the people’s voice.

They had enough access to Zeus to try and murder him.

He has the kind of access to get direct information from the man himself.

They try to get the world to notice them in anyway possible.

You can use that last sentence for both of them.

Yet, when the world is watching, nothing comes to fruition, Zeus isn’t killed, Hercules isn’t framed, and when the world is watching, Colt doesn’t even have the balls to show his face when you ask for him, Attano.

All the uprising does is hide in the shadows, his silence should have been all the confirmation you need.

Colt has what you seek but if there’s anything I’ve learned about the bastard, you have to do something for him or beat it out of him.

Your choice, I’d love to see what he says when nobody is in front of him.

When nobody is there to give him the attention he craves.

When nobody is there to treat him like a child.

When nobody cares what he has to say.

When nobody gives him what he wants, that’s when he’ll scream again.

Don’t worry, like a parent who sees through the bullshit, I won’t do a thing to stop him from screaming when nobody is hurting him.
