[Doom sits in front of a large metal bird cage. It has a green tarp over it.]
“The domestication of birds is rarely successfully accomplished. Whether allowed to roam freely inside a cage such as this, or a bigger terrarium, they will always seek a way to escape in search for the sky.”
[A ruffling of feathers sounds from inside the cage; it’s furious and distressed.]
“For a while, you might believe you have their loyalty and trust. You might believe that whilst you’re the hand that feeds them, that they’re in your debt and liege. You’re the master of the cage and what lies within it belongs to you.”
[Doom pulls the tarp off the cage revealing a flustered Owl inside.]
“Such majestic creatures.”
[He puts a hand on the cage.]
“They should never be caged.”
[Doom opens the cage door.]
“Malakai must feel so powerful, surrounded by his owls. He’s able to manipulate their being in every way imaginable – from where they reside to how they act in his name. His cages are full to the brim of hooting creatures, just waiting for their moment.”
[Suddenly, the owl flies out into the open and escapes into the height above.]
[Doom grunts.]
“But the moment they’re waiting for is not the moment to attack. It isn’t the moment to serve you, not like you think. The moment they’re waiting for is the moment to escape, Malakai. They’re waiting to become a bird, once again. Because whilst stuck in your cages, doing your bidding, you might think they’re an owl… the reality is much more sinister. They’re no longer what they desire to be, not whilst in your possession.”
[As the owl flies above, Doom watches, his eyes glowing green.]
“That’s why it’s just a matter of time before your precious little birdies turn on you. It’s a matter of time before they see their opportunity to become a bird once again and leave your enforced sanctuary. They need to soar in the sky above, where they belong. Until they do that, are they truly even a bird?”
[He reaches down into his cloak and pulls out a pistol, aiming it into the sky at where the owl was.]
“The problem is, Malakai, at some point in the future, every single out from your inner sanctum and cages will want to return to the sky and soar. They’ll want to be more than you allow them to be. They’ll want to be a bird once again.”
[BANG!]
[Doom shoots down the Owl. It falls to the ground with a giant thud.]
“And whether they’re in your cages or in the sky, they’re fair game.”
[He picks up the owl by its feet and drags it away.]
“You used your owls to manipulate my emotions. It matters not whether they’re in your cages or in the sky… I’m going to shoot them all down.”
[Doom growls.]
“And once I do, you will kneel before Doom.”
