Felix Foley sits alone in his bedroom, posters on every wall space he can find. Various puppets sit watching him from boxes and shelves.
His eyes focus on his half of the OSW Tag Team Championships that sits on the bed beside him.
[Felix Foley] “It’s beautiful, isn’t it? I never thought I’d find myself so wrapped up in gold. I never thought I’d care all that much about being a Champion. But as I gaze upon it and the light hits it in a certain way, there’s a warmth inside my belly that nothing can replicate.”
Then he turns to Fernicus’ diary.
[Felix Foley] “That warmth is misleading because it covers a darkness.”
It’s open once again.
[Felix Foley] “I understand you, Jasper. That sounds strange coming from my mouth, I know. But it’s true. Hurting people is to you, like this Championship is to me. It makes you feel the same way, doesn’t it?”
Foley shakes his head.
[Felix Foley] “Just like digging a grave, Gravedigger. Just like that shovel in your hand, pounding over and over into the dirt. I understand you, too.”
Another tear rolls down his cheek.
[Felix Foley] “Or the feeling of noxious gases, suffocating your enemies. The design, the deliberation, the execution of a well made chemical that brings people to their knees. I get it, Nox. I do.”
Foley stands and walks over to the book, closing it up.
[Felix Foley] “But just like me, inside each of you lies a darkness. Something you just can’t shake. Something that keeps you awake in the middle of the night. For me, it’s my father. It’s what I can easily become. It’s everything I despised in that man and everything I despise about me.”
A red light appears in ominous in the background.
[Felix Foley] “Each and every one of you is covering a darkness with something darker. Jasper, what is it that truly drives you? Is it love? Did you not receive enough? Gravedigger has always been a leper, a loner, a man brutalised by society. His shovel covers that darkness. Nox, a criminal, driven by greed. His gas covers his darkness.”
The red light goes off.
[Felix Foley] “Just like my OSW Tag Team Championships cover mine. Before that, it was my friendship with Doom and before that, it was my puppets.”
He shakes his head in disappointment.
[Felix Foley] “The difference between us is that whilst I’ve covered my darkness, I’ve also overcome it. I embodied that darkness once. I brought terror into Old School Wrestling and struck fear into the hearts of man, woman and child. When the red light flashed, people ran. Damien Wolfe died. I murdered, I maimed, and I tortured, but I overcame.”
Foley takes a seat back on his bed.
[Felix Foley] “You three haven’t. You continue to cover up your darkest moments, your true selves, hiding away what you don’t want anyone to see. That’s not sustainable. That’s not going to work.”
He wipes away his tear from earlier.
[Felix Foley] “I had to overcome. I always do. If not for me… then for the kids.”
