Ascension #391

Quote from Nero on 18 August 2025, 07:22TOP THREE MOMENTS:
1. The Strings of Deceit - Loved that the show picked up exactly where we left off, with Felix Foley dragged into the APD in cuffs. Scott Sterling’s timely intervention bailed him out, but the bigger twist was Savor lurking in earshot soaking it all in like a voyeur. That reveal was deliberate, calculated, and pretty unsettling. The prospect of a fatal four-way at Ring King is mouthwatering, but which version of Foley will show up I wonder? We know Felix, we’ve seen Scissors… Could this world hold three faces of Foley just like ours? However it plays out, it’s set to be a slobberknocker.
2. Not Left To Fate - Last week I compared this arc to Final Destination, and this week doubled down on that feeling. Fate keeps trying to snuff out Slade Kincaid, but every time he slips free with Tombstone never far behind. For a relatively fresh storyline, this one is heating up fast and carving its own place in the bigger Arcadia puzzle. Easily one of my favourite rising subplots right now.
3. For Old Times Sake II - The mystery didn’t last long. It was Ares - or rather Zeus - who pulled the strings behind Nox and Doom’s capture, framing it as a test for his son Jackson Cade. Cade may have spared them, but in Zeus’ eyes that mercy will be weakness. Earlier in the night, Cade proved he won’t bend to demands he doesn’t believe in by turning on Redgrave, but how long can he hold out before he’s torn apart by competing loyalties?
BURNING QUESTIONS:
How much resolve does Jackson Cade really have? Can he keep holding the line?
Is Graves truly in Nero’s corner?
Likewise, is Redgrave really backing Cade?
What name was Zeus hinting at when he mentioned The Golden Tickets?
Who is the real Felix Foley?
MY FAVOURITE PROMO OF THE WEEK:
Didn’t get to catch everything this week, but Ezekiel Graves/Millstone Judgement stood out. I love the way Jin frames these as sermon-like condemnations of his opponents, and this one hit the mark again.
HAVE YOUR SAY:
Buzzing to finally make the Semi Finals of Ring King - something I’ve always wanted to do going into the event. Just reaching the final four, especially through such a tough bracket, already feels like a win.
As for Nero’s story arc, it’s fascinating. On one side, you’ve got long-time rival Ezekiel Graves oddly showing support. On the other, Jasper Redgrave aligning with Cade - his greatest enemy. I can’t shake the feeling these 'alliances' are traps waiting to spring, and it could be as soon as the Ring King Tag Team title match that the knives come out. Cade’s cheap shot to Redgrave at the end of the night only deepens that sense, and it feels like we’re just waiting for the tables to turn to reveal that Redgrave and Graves were in cahoots all along.

Quote from Reverend Ezekiel Graves on 19 August 2025, 04:50TOP THREE MOMENTS
1: See You Never: This storyline got a lot of TV time, and every second of it was super entertaining. I feel lucky to be part of it. The way it flowed straight into the next match, right out of the chaos, was such a cool touch.
2: Do You Know?: Another badass segment that pushed the story into overdrive. The emotion was heavy, and the writing was spot-on right from the start, with Nero laying it all on Cade. You could feel the tension.
3: Not Left to Fate: I loved the action in this one. It felt cinematic like watching a movie. Personally, I’d love to see more segments like this. The pacing was perfect, and it really showed that sometimes actions speak louder than words.
BURNING QUESTIONS
• Who wins Ring King?
• What will the new King’s name be?
• Are Ares and Doom related?
• Was Doom the person Ares was referring to when he said, “I’ve got a family issue of my own to take care of”?
• Which tag team is more dysfunctional Graves and Nero, or Cade and Redgrave?
FAVOURITE PROMO OF THE WEEK
I Know a Song: So well written had me locked in from start to finish. I’ve always been a fan of Mr. Sunshine, and this promo is exactly why. Just amazing stuff.
HAVE YOUR SAY
What a killer early show! Huge congrats to the final four you’re all going to crush it, and I can’t wait to see what the new King ends up being called.
I’m definitely bummed I couldn’t get the job done I was really curious what kind of King title Graves would’ve earned this year. But hey, there’s always next year. And I’ve still got a tag title match coming up, and an awesome storyline with Nero to keep building. I’m honestly so grateful I get to work with three insanely talented writers.
Ring King is shaping up to launch some epic storylines, and I’m here for all of it. Win, lose, or draw the storytelling is next level.

Quote from El Mariachi Muerte on 19 August 2025, 20:42TOP THREE MOMENTS:
- REDEMPTION?: This was a wicked segment. We get a crystal clear look into everything that Night feels, his reasoning and his pain. We get a similar view into Gemini, and you can see their sides of the story brilliantly. I love the fact that this clearly leads to the match at Ring King. Redemption being earned, revenge being earned. Gemini putting herself in the path of all of that. What a match that is building.
2. SEE YOU NEVER / ALL THE POWER: The moments we have on display here create some great tension in two teams that aren't exactly on the same page. It's one of those "an enemy of my enemy becomes my friend" situations. Graves coming after Cade for standing by while Redgrave captured Lucien's family. Then we have peak Jasper Redgrave flaunting his 'ten-foot tall and bulletproof' attitude to life, calling himself a god to be prayed to because he holds all the cards. Great writing, great way of pulling those teams together. Now, who can co-exist?
3. FAMILY DRAMA: There's something interesting a-brewing here. I love the callback to the golden tickets. In usual OSW style, there's more than originally meets the eye. A name that received a ticket that wasn't supposed to? Something connected to Ares? There's tension here, but I'm not sure exactly what's leading to it. An interesting feeling.
BURNING QUESTIONS:
- Is what we see at the end between Nox / Doom and Ares connected to the golden ticket conversation we saw earlier with Zeus? Is one of them the name in question?
- Can Graves and Nero really hold it together?
- Biggest question... Who is our King?
MY FAVOURITE PROMO OF THE WEEK:
WHAT YOU DESERVE: It's so good to be reading Doom again. I love the viewpoint taken here, how he sees himself in each of the people across the ring from him. How he unpacks the destruction, the lying, the turning of one's back. You can see it in Doom's history, and for a man who is trying to redeem himself, it speaks wonders.
We get the kick in the guts from the promo about half way through
But here’s the revelation that’s been digging its way into my skull these last few weeks.
Your behavior matters.
Your humanity matters.
Man, for a man who is pouring himself out, that hits hard. For a man who has done everything Doom has done, that makes all the difference. He speaks the truth that he's lived, and you can't get more real than that. Hell of a promo.
HAVE YOUR SAY:
MUERTE
The writing here is so beautiful, giving so much depth to the history of Anthestria and the lore behind everything Muerte has gone through. I loved looking into the history of him becoming a Mariachi, the weight he carries still with the death of Vida and his desire to make something positive out of the power he was dealt. To also get more history into the reason why la musica was dying, that's interesting.
To find out that Dr Death wasn't actually responsible, but Grande himself silencing the mariachi so he could take their powers back. There's so much hurt inside EMM, because everything that has happened has left him as the only one left in Caido's way. I love the way he talks of death and views his power here, that's something key to the character I believe.
SUNSHINE
If last week was a great metaphor for Sunshine's mood, this is also a great metaphor in the change of decorations we see. Everything artificial and fake, twisted beyond anything that we would call 'happy'. The canned laughter in such a scene was a nice touch. Sunshine's response here is interesting... it's so different from everything he has been, but there's something particular about what Narcissa has created here that has just made him snap. He can't handle what his show has become, I'm guessing that is a metaphor too. The question is, now that Sunshine has actually taken a life, what is holding his psyche together - what happens at Ring King could be very defining.

Quote from Klaus Way on 21 August 2025, 01:54TOP THREE MOMENTS:
- Sunshine is going DARK. I really enjoyed how fake the 'revival' was made to feel, and the juxtaposition of the blood against the rainbow. Narcissa has got herself in reaaaaaaaal deep now.
- I really enjoyed seeing Tombstone change fate in real time to show the shards of glass aiming purely at Slade Kincaid. These two behemoths are going to have a very fun back and forth, I can feel it.
- Ares trying to test Cade at the end of the show is a sign of things to come, I'm sure. At some point down the line he'll use the dagger for the 'good' of Olympus and Arcadia, I think it is just a question of who against?
BURNING QUESTIONS:
- Are we going to see Jackson Cade slowly morph into a mini-Zeus?
- Is the wolf back in Ayame again? Certainly seems it!
- Will Muerte willingly give up his gift? It doesn't seem like he enjoys it any more.
- Which name shouldn't be on the list that Zeus speaks of? Is someone in Olympus related to Ares - is this the family matter he was referring to? Lots to unpack here.
MY FAVOURITE PROMO OF THE WEEK:
I think Sunshine and Doom between them get the nod this week. I can't split them - both really good promos.
HAVE YOUR SAY:
Destructo is an angry little boy, isn't he? In 'Something More' he really riles himself up. It's interesting to see him get in such a state. I'm not sure who he is speaking to in the last line, though. In 'Nothing More' I was surprised to see Klaus being physically violent to Michaela, it had felt up until now it was more of a mental torture she was going through. But actually I think that step up to physical violence is key to moving the story with Attano on. Obviously for now Klaus has some unfinished business with Destructo to attend to, but the Ringmaster certainly seems to have his eyes on what comes next.

- Smile for the Camera. Love the path that Narcy has led ole Sunny down. The darkness is coming out, and I have to wonder if Narcissa knows exactly what she's in for in pushing this all to come to the forefront.
- A Wolf's Revenge. I think I'm putting this here strictly because of the "wolf without a kingdom" line. For some reason, it really stuck out to me and elevated the whole affair.
- For Old Times Sake II. You just know this story with Jackson Cade won't be as simple as him refusing to kill them.
BURNING QUESTIONS:
Who's got a golden ticket that shouldn't that Ares is pissed about?
Destructo is DOWN BAD. Will beating Klaus Way give him a shot?
Who's the real Felix Foley?
MY FAVORITE PROMO OF THE WEEK:
Doom's was my fave this week. I can't really say much more than what Hayden did above, so I'll just ditto him and move on. Brilliant stuff.
HAVE YOUR SAY:
Slade - Still loving this. Can't wait to see how these two square up at Ring King!
Gemini - Love to see Gem taking some agency here and having enough of Attano and Night's BS. She's going to make them stand on business (did I use that right?) and actually try to do the things they've been talking about. Great stuff!

1. smile for the camera was dope as hell because of how incredibly grim it was. we've been seeing it for a little minute now, but the cracks on mr sunshine are starting to open up even wider, and once we're fully at that breaking point, i can't wait to see what that's gonna look like.
2. im still very intrigued by this tombstone and slade situation. at this point, for whatever reason, it just seems extremely important for tombstone to put slade away and ferry him. but i love the grit in slade by resisting tombstone's threats if you can call it that, and just daring him to keep on coming. excited to see how this culminates.
3. family drama caught my attention as well. always love a good mystery where you gotta wait and see who or what the answer is to something. and im very curious to find out who the name was who got the ticket that ares did not approve of. because they're gonna have some big problems coming their way shortly.
BURNING QUESTIONS:
what is destructos plan to put away klaus?
why exactly does tombstone want slade? is there a real reason behind it?
who is ares referring to about that ticket?
is emm gonna give up his power?
MY FAVOURITE PROMO OF THE WEEK:
didn't get the chance to read promos this week unfortunately. ill have to apologize to that cause it seems like some good work was done, but i'll be back on track next week for ring king.
HAVE YOUR SAY:
ive been enjoying the time antons been getting in a story with such a legendary and prolific character in felix foley. i figured it'd end up being a fatal fourway for the world championship, but that hasnt changed my excitement for the event, and for getting the opportunity to hold the top prize essentially. been enjoying this ride so far, cant wait to see whats gonna go down at ring king.

Quote from Jackson Cade on 22 August 2025, 03:09TOP THREE MOMENTS:
- I enjoyed Strings of Deceit but my reasoning is definitely partially because we got some Scott Sterling action again. I think he's a character who's a little underutilized at times in OSW so he's a treat when he does show up. Never fails to give us a fantastic Attitude Era feeling segment with the authority setting up these big matches.
- Smile for the Camera was a fantastically eerie segment. I think the visuals came across strongly here with how it was written and the brutality that Sunshine is showing definitely has me excited to see what comes at Ring King. I've never seen Sunshine so menacing, it's probably my favorite side of him to see in action.
- Lastly I really enjoyed Family Drama. The relationship between Zeus and Ares is nothing short of compelling to me whenever we get a chance to see it playing out on the shows. This segment added a good bit of intrigue and I'm curious to see what comes of it.
BURNING QUESTIONS:
- Why does Tombstone want Slade so bad?
- Who is Ares referring to with that golden ticket?
- Who's the real Felix Foley?
- Can Destructo get to Michaela?
MY FAVOURITE PROMO OF THE WEEK:
I'm giving this to The Night this week very much on the grounds that it was very competitive and that I am very proud of Damo for getting to the semi-finals of Ring King. Looking forward to seeing him bring it at the PPV.
HAVE YOUR SAY:
Jackson Cade: I appreciate that Cade is going through the most absolutely stressful moment in his life. From being the heir to Zeus to having to team with Redgrave I love how he's going to have to deal with all of these hardships going forwards. Also that Hostile Down to Redgrave has to be one of my favorite moments of the past few weeks. So cathartic to see Cade finally snap a bit.

Quote from Narcissa Balenciaga on 22 August 2025, 03:10TOP THREE MOMENTS:
1. The strings of deceit, felt just like a good classic wrestling segment with a good way of getting Foley out of jail through Zeus but now we're getting a solid four way match with the number one contender in Anton Savor and a great long term stroy trio in Foley, Nox, and Doom.
2. Death's Gift I, I just loved how beautifully this was written, the monologue with the visuals, this felt like the perfect setup for a promo with the story and some backstory of Muerte thrown in there. Seeing death as a gift to get through your given duty is heavy.
3. Something More, this was interesting with Destructo letting himself getting eaten up with what's going on with Michaela, it's like he's letting himself go through grief again because of this whole situation. Destructo has always been a tragic character and it makes me root for him to take care of Way.
BURNING QUESTIONS:
Will Destructo take care of Way?
Who has the golden ticket?
Are we about to lose Muerte? It feels closer to happening.
MY FAVOURITE PROMO OF THE WEEK:
Doom has been crushing it since his return and this week is no different, I can't complain about losing to him and his other partners in the trio that also crushed it this week.
HAVE YOUR SAY:
Was not expecting Sunshine to kill his replacement actor just like that but I shouldn't be surprised at this, more proof that every thing he does is an act, this has been a fun story and I'm really looking forward to see how it culminates or continues at Ring King.

1. Smile for the Camera - As a big fan of the character that is Mister Sunshine, I've been waiting for the other shoe to fall in terms of the darker side of Sunshine that's been lingering under the surface for a while now. Every time I think I see a bit of that dark side coming out, I become a huge school girl. I'm waiting for that full on breakdown, secretly.
2. Strings of Deceit - I do love me a good classic wrasslin' segment, and this one had that nostalgic feel that we all know and love. I've noticed lately that the man that tends to give us these golden segments that give us Attitude Era vibes are usually involving Scott Sterling.. to wish i say.. give us more? 🙂
3. Not Left to Fate - The game of cat and mouse being played here with Kincaid and Tombstone just pulls my attention. I'm really looking forward to seeing what happens when these two finally collide.
BURNING QUESTIONS:
- Who is it that shouldn't be here? Who had a ticket that shouldn't have?
- Why does Tombstone want Slade so badly?\
- Are we losing EMM? 🙁
- Who will win Ring King?
MY FAVOURITE PROMO OF THE WEEK:
I want to use this spot to congratulate Damo on reaching the Semi-Finals of Ring King. You've been killing it bud and I've quite like what you've been writing lately. Keep it up!
HAVE YOUR SAY:
I would just like to take a moment to talk about Ring King in and of itself. It's almost surreal for me that I finally won this tournament last year after trying to do so for several years and now here I find myself, once again in the Semi-Finals. I truly did not expect to be in this position again. Can I repeat? Maybe not, but hey.. I sure am just happy to be here.
