“The game we play can be a dangerous one.”
[Through the pathways of Arcadia, The Killer King walks.]
[Those who stand by take notice to his presence, but back away in fear.]
“One week, everything could be golden. The future could look the brightest it’s ever had. And then in the snap of a finger, everything changes.”
“And suddenly, you’re taking your last breath.”
[Jasper walks past a news stand and as he does, something catches his eye.]
[A missing poster.]
[Redgrave rips it from the posterboard, his eyes falling upon a picture of Nero’s family.]
“But sometimes, the game we play can become dangerous not just for us, but for our loved ones as well.”
“And where you may have felt like you were finally about to get redemption, you now find yourself alone in a cruel, cruel world.”
[Jasper places the poster on the news stand counter and taps a single finger across the picture.]
“But their disappearance is hardly the fault of Lucien or his family, isn’t it, Ezekiel?”
“It’s the game that you’ve been playing that’s at fault.”
“You may not be the one who kidnapped Lucien’s family, but he was right to hold you responsible.”
“For so long, you’ve been playing the role of leader in your little game of fantasy. You’ve stood before many of Arcadia’s people, encouraging them by promising them hope and preaching your false prophecies.”
“You’ve played your own game right up until Ring of Dreams, didn’t you, Zeke?”
[Redgrave grabs a tabloid from the rack and places it on the counter. On it’s cover is a picture of Ezekiel Graves and Nero titled “Friends or Foes?”]
“It was Lucien himself who outed you as the fraud you’ve been in front of all of Arcadia. It was your own supposed right hand that called you out for being a false prophet.”
“You cannot lead your own people, and you led Nero right down the path that cost him his family.”
[Redgrave gathers the tabloid and turns on his heels to continue his stroll.]
“Lucien confided in you. He trusted you to lead him down a path of righteousness. You told him to follow you and you twisted the words you spewed to fit your own narrative.”
“It’s your fault that Lucien died and Nero was born. Just like it’s your fault that he now stands alone.”
“You’re a shameful leader. You’re no where near fit to be King.”
[Redgrave reaches into his jacket pocket and pulls from it a zippo.]
[He flips it open and strikes the lighter.]
[And he holds the flame to the tabloid, setting it on fire.]
“You’ve played a dangerous game up until now, Zeke.”
“You’ve deceived your people.”
“And at Ascension, it’s time for YOU to answer for your sins.”
“Because you’re up against the final boss of this little game you’ve been playing.”
“The King of Arcadia.”
[Jasper chuckles as the picture of Zeke and Nero burns to ash and falls to the ground where he lifts his boot and stomps them into the ground.]
“Game Over.”
[Jasper’s face twists into a cocky smirk as he walks off.]
[Fade.]
