Responsibility

In Jasper Redgrave, Promo by Jasper Redgrave

[Arcadia Police Department.]

[The place is in shambles.]

[The Uprising tears through the department with glee.]

[The floor is littered with bodies of officers.]

[Jasper Redgrave stands amongst the chaos with a twisted grin.]

[He walks through the chaos, stepping over the bodies that clutter his way.]

“Who killed Mikaela Attano?”

[He speaks loudly, as if speaking to someone who may or may not be there.]

[His eyes fixated on the interrogation door we saw Harold and Jackson escape from.]

“You’ve spent days upon days locked behind that door. You’ve spent hours upon unnerving hours thumbing through the files.”

“Yet everything still points in one direction. No matter which path you follow, all the evidence points back to the man you’ve thought responsible all along.”

[CRASH!]

[An officer of the APD is thrown across the room right in front of Jasper, but his focus doesn’t waiver as he casually steps over the body.]

[He grows closer to the door.]

“But, I’m not the one who murdered Mikaela, Harry.”

“And in order to find out who is truly responsible, you’re going to have to look past the evidence.”

“You’re going to have to look inside.”

[Redgrave inches closer, his eyes cold and emotionless.]

“I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again, Harry. You are just as responsible for the loss of your daughter as the man who actually took her life.”

“You and I both know that within your line of work, one of the most common tactics for someone to get back at you is to target your family.”

“You knew that, Harold, and yet you let your guard down. You knew that you had painted such a hefty target on your own back that it would jeopardize your loved ones, yet you weren’t there to protect her.”

[A small office door swings open, and several men stumble over one another, coughing and gagging, to escape a room that is quickly filling with gas.]

[Jasper pushes through them unbothered.]

“If you want to place blame upon someone’s shoulders, look across from you.”

“Look at the man you’ve befriended.”

“Just because he bears the shield of justice, he’s no stranger to the darkest sides of Arcadia.”

“He’s just as much of a snake as you or I..”

“But even if not directly responsible, it’s that shield that he carries that makes him the one to blame.”

“By accepting that shield, he accepted an oath to serve and protect the citizens of Arcadia.”

“Something he has failed to do time and time again..”

“Something you’ve both failed to do.”

[Jasper smirks as he stops outside the interrogation room door.]

[His voice is lowered so that only someone inside the room could hear him.]

“I have the answers you seek, Harry.”

[Jasper reaches out and swings the door open.]

[The interrogation room is empty, as we knew it to be.]

[Jasper smirks.]

“At Ring of Dreams, all of your questions will be answered.”

“I may not have been responsible for Mikaela’s death, Harry..”

“But I will be the one that reunites her with her father.”

[Jasper closes the door and takes his leave.]

[Fade.]
