Post Vendetta Nox sits in his workshop surrounded by the ruins left by Mr. Sunshine. “You think this is the end.” Nox muses to himself.
“You think this is the end of the experiment. That just because you walk in here and destroy years of work, spoil months of preparation, break thousands of credits in supplies, and steal my notes this will stop me from completing what I’ve set my mind to. When you’re the only variable, you’re the only one who can’t be made blue.”
Nox runs his hand through the mess before him as he speaks with the conviction of a man facing a death sentence. “You believe that you can break me, that this rubble is my life’s work…”
Nox snaps out of his solemn state fire reflecting on his eyes as he points an index finger at his temple. “My life’s work is here you delightedly delirious dim dumb-fuck, you would need to kill me to stop me. Every measurement, every drop it’s all right here”. We see a smirk of confidence solidify in Nox’s eyes.
“But murder, that’s not nice is it, Charlie? But you attempted to ruin my life’s work, steal my formulas, and set me back so far that it would’ve been better off slamming that sledgehammer through my skull. But that’s a bridge too far for you isn’t it, Sunshine? You will never put an end to the experiment.” Nox’s voice wheezes out from beneath his mask his respirator failing to contain the slow-burning rage in his voice like the crackle of a smoldering wildfire.
Nox’s eyes narrow, as he produces an ampoule with a fluorescent yellow liquid in the bottom creating a gaseous plume that fills the remainder of the ampoule. “You’ve called me your sunbeam for the last few weeks and it’s all led to this.” Nox’s chuckle is muffled by his respiration filter and it’s enough to cause a normal man’s stomach to drop. “It’s my sunbeam, Charlie, and all you need to do is breathe it in and this sunbeam will burn so bright that your brain will incinerate from the inside out. Every neuron emits an electrical pulse as your gray matter is fried, Sunnyside up. Charlie this doesn’t end well for you.” Nox wheezes out this declaration holding the ampoule between his thumb and forefinger as he stares at it intently.
“You think that you’ve tested me Sunshine, you attempted to destroy my work, my life, and left me sitting in ruins. Just a taste is all you’ll need and everything will be stolen from you. Your personality, your disposition, every ounce of joy you’ve ever given stored in that moronically myopic misused mind of yours, burned to a cinder as your mind shines for the last time. In that moment I will hold you close as the light fades from your eyes and sing…”
Nox’s voice rasps as he slowly sings unnervingly as it warbles. “You were my Sunshine, my only Sunshine, I’m here to watch you as it all goes gray. You’ll never know dear, how much I loath you, now I cast my Sunshine away.”
