Greatest OSW Tag Teams.

PreviousPage 5 of 7Next

1. Jet Set Radio (Ether & Tag) - 1 Reign, 2 Defences, 69 Days.

2. The Family (Cussen & DTR) - 2 Reigns, 2 Defences

The family, for similar reasons to Bellatorum, keep it consistent.

JSR - I was tossing up between them and Vayikra. Very similar reasoning between the two.

Well, despite what I think may be some individual biases, we have our eliminations. 😀

Based on vote:

  • The Family
  • Vayikra

That takes us to Round IV:

Round IV:

We're now down to 3 teams in our hunt for the GREATEST OSW TAG TEAM OF ALL TIME.

  1. Knock Knock (Doubt & Smiley) - 2 Reigns, 2 Defences.
  2. Bad Motherfuckers (Zero & Pyre) - 1 Reign, 9 Defences, 336 Days.
  3. Those 90s Guys (Ash and Cories) 1 Reign, 2 Defences
  4. Jet Set Radio (Ether & Tag) - 1 Reign, 2 Defences, 69 Days.
  5. O'Death (El Mariachi Murete & Dr. Death) - 1 Reign, 3 Defences, 78 Days

We're looking to go down to 3 now. Eliminate 2.

This is where it gets tough. The top three greatest tag teams in OSW history?

After some thought and consideration, I'm eliminating:

  1. O'Death (El Mariachi Murete & Dr. Death) - 1 Reign, 3 Defences, 78 Days
  2. Those 90s Guys (Ash and Cories) 1 Reign, 2 Defences

This was hard.

Well, the second one was hard. The first one was easy. I've chosen Those 90's Guys because whilst it's a trip of nostalgia to remember them fondly, they just about have a less impactful story than any of the other teams. As Evil Ash, Cories, Dr. Evil, etc - there's an amazing feud that will be remembered forever. But the overall arcs of Knock Knock, BMF and JSR out-do them, I feel. Length of time in story and how the titles contributed to that are slightly more on scale.

This one is tougher than I expected. I think the 90's Guys are gone regardless. I honestly don't recall much about their actual tag team, more the feud that resulted.  It's between the other two that's tough.

  1. Those 90s Guys (Ash and Cories) 1 Reign, 2 Defences
  2. Jet Set Radio (Ether & Tag) - 1 Reign, 2 Defences, 69 Days.

I think you could make the argument for any of Those 90's Guys, JSR, and O'Death to stick around. I'm betting this is the tightest voting thus far. I'm going to keep O'Death though. Call it recency bias, or just liking the symmetry of having a tag team from each Volume in the finals.

Agreed, this is hard.

  1. Those 90s Guys (Ash and Cories) 1 Reign, 2 Defences
  2. Jet Set Radio (Ether & Tag) - 1 Reign, 2 Defences, 69 Days.

I'm trying to not let my personal alliances cloud my judgement and be impartial, but it's such a subjective thing looking beyond merely numbers on the page.

Top 5 is something to be proud of. Those 90s guys are like one of those classic teams of old, I find myself asking if teams that have come after them have surpassed their legacy. I think some others on the list definitely have.

JSR were brought in as a team and definitely had an amazing story arc as a team. I think looking back that I shouldn't have voted for them last round, and the way the chips fell were fair. I just don't quite see them pipping the top 3. But then again, I could say the same for O'Death. It's a coin flip

I know who my top 2 are at least.

  1. O'Death (El Mariachi Murete & Dr. Death) - 1 Reign, 3 Defences, 78 Days
  2. Those 90s Guys (Ash and Cories) 1 Reign, 2 Defences

I'm in agreement with Dean here.

I had my reasons for voting O'Death previously, and while Those 90s Guys is one of the most memorable tag teams in OSW they do have a less impactful story as a team. Maybe I'm biased in regards to JSR, but I think I'm content with my votes.

Similar to last round, I went lookin' at the title histories themselves and the defenses these teams had to come up with this.

  1. O'Death (El Mariachi Murete & Dr. Death) - 1 Reign, 3 Defences, 78 Days
  2. Those 90s Guys (Ash and Cories) 1 Reign, 2 Defences

There isn't too terribly much to say about said defenses, so between that and reasons stated previously these can get chopped IMO. Once again, whittling away at teams more defined by the post-breakup feuds haha.

  1. O'Death (El Mariachi Murete & Dr. Death) - 1 Reign, 3 Defences, 78 Days
  2. Those 90s Guys (Ash and Cories) 1 Reign, 2 Defences

First one wasn't too hard, O'Death wasn't in my top 5 to begin with and like I said before, they're a team that worked more for the impact of the feud afterward, not the team itself. The second one...that fucking hurts to eliminate my boys but althou they are legendary, I think a lot of love comes from nostalgia and the stories afterwards. As a team, they had maybe one proper feud that stood out, they mostly feuded with other people while they were champs and honestly, the breakup and subsequent feud was more memorable then their actual title defenses. Top 5? Absolutely. Top 3 over JSR, BMF and Knock Knock? Hell no.

Well, we have our eliminations. 😀

Based on vote:

  • Those 90s Guys  5
  • O'Death 4
  • Jet Set Radio 2

That takes us to Round V:

I feel like this one’s a no brainer.

  1. Jet Set Radio (Ether & Tag) - 1 Reign, 2 Defences, 69 Days

JSR just doesn’t compare to the other two.
