Lap Dog

[The Gallery.]

[Jasper Redgrave sits in a wide chair with a poodle in his lap.]

[He pets the lap dog as he speaks.]

“When you’re the World Champion, the people of Arcadia come to expect a certain demeanor from you.”

“With that gold around your waist, you’re considered the top dog. The dog that runs the yard. The dog that protects the yard from those who try to intrude.”

“With that belt comes the responsibility of being able to fend off those who cross your path.”

“And for quite some time, Tombstone.. you’ve managed to be that dog.”

“A rather fierce one at that.”

[A dry chuckle is given.]

“You’ve quite the bite.. for a lap dog.”

“Despite being the big powerful brute that you are, you aren’t exactly what is expected of the big dog.”

“You can defend your yard from intruders in swarms, but why?”

“Even down to your line of work, you lack a purpose.”

“You spend countless hours ferrying souls, because you’re told that’s what you’re supposed to do.”

“You’ve come to Old School Wrestling, because that’s the direction you were pointed to go.”

“Hell, you only hold that Championship because that’s what you were told to do.”

“Every move you make isn’t of your own decision, but one dictated by Igor.”

[He pauses a moment, a smirk appearing on his face as he looks down at the poodle in his lap.]

[He leans forward, putting the small lap dog on the floor in front of him.]

“While being a lap dog may be enough for you, it’s not enough to protect the yard from the big dogs.”

[Jasper sits back in his chair, eyeing the poodle down as he speaks.]

“Me? I’m tired of being someone’s lapdog.”

“When I sided with The Uprising it was because much like myself, they were tired of being told what to do or how to act.”

“I’ve grown weary of operating under the thumb of someone elses’ watch.”

“In a dog eat dog world, I’m the biggest dog there is.”

Sic’em!

[Jasper snaps his fingers!]

[From the shadows of the room emerges a larger dog. A pitbull, salivating at the mouth as he rushes the small poodle, showing his teeth and barking with intent.]

[In one swift motion, the pitbull has tackled the poodle, his teeth sunk deep into it’s neck.]

“No matter how fierce your bite might be, Tombstone, you’re still just a little lapdog no bigger than a poodle.”

“At Bad Company, I’m coming to Olympus as the biggest dog you’ve ever come across.”

“You’ve had the pleasure of ferrying many of souls that met their demise by these very hands, so you’re no stranger to what I’m capable of.”

“You’ve done a mighty fine job maintaining the yard for a poodle, but it’s time now for the big dog to come home.”

“It’s time that the big dog claims his yard.”

[The pitbull comes panting back to Jasper, sitting at his feet.]

“It’s been a long time coming, but it’s finally time The Artist finishes his greatest masterpiece of all time.”

“No lap dog can keep me from my throne.”

[Fade.]
