Pursuit of Happiness

I’m on the pursuit of happiness and I know
everything that shine ain’t always gonna be gold.
Hey, I’ll be fine once I get it, yeah, I’ll be good.

Everyone in Arcadia has their opinion of what the Uprising means to them. Some see arbiters of hope, some see bringers of chaos. Most fall somewhere in the middle and realize for any change to happen, it has to start at the top instead of eroding at the bottom.

What they can all agree on is a lack of knowledge when it comes to us, our desires, our actions, and our plan if we’re successful.

I promise I’ll be good, when I get what I want, when the Uprising gets what we want, I’ll make sure we’re all happy.

Yet, even when I say this and people know I’m earnest and honest about this, they stand in my way, in the Uprising’s way. In fact, they stand in the way of all of us.

People like Gemini who have stood in my way from the very beginning, sure you helped me avoid imprisonment but at what cost? Did securing my freedom make me really free or did you handcuff me worse than those officers?

Let me tell you what I’ve told others.

People told me slow my roll
I’m screaming out, “Fuck that”
I’ma do just what I want
Looking ahead no turning back
If I fall if I die
Know I lived it to the fullest
If I fall if I die
Know I lived and missed some bullets

Whether you’re sleeping in trees, casting hexes, or doing whatever this form of you does for fun, I need you to release me from whatever curse you laid on me the moment we first encountered each other.

You’re in my nightmares almost as much as Zeus himself.

You don’t get it, do you Pestilence? You are my walking nightmare. How should I say this?

Tell me what you know about dreamin’, dreamin’
You don’t really know about nothin’, nothin’
Tell me what you know about them night terrors every night
Five AM cold sweats, waking up to the sky
Tell me what you know about dreams, dreams
Tell me what you know about night terrors, nothin’
You don’t really care about the trials of tomorrow
Rather lay awake in the bed full of sorrow

You’re so fixated on causing others agony and fear that you’ve become like the other gods, aware of what you can do rather than what you should do.

Whether you or any god like it or not, we are intertwined with this world and its people.

Our pursuit of happiness is linked with theirs and rather than being an obstacle to those underneath us, let’s make those above us suffer.

You are the goddess who works below us, help us rise from the bottom and make those at the top know the agony you can bring upon them.

You saved me so I can pursue happiness, help me once more so I can pursue greater.

I’m just asking you to stay out of my way and I’ll keep my promise, I’ll be good.
