Fit For a King

“Allow me to tell you a story..”

“There once was a man who claimed to be King.”

“While he did seek to rule over his kingdom, he rose to power off the coat tails of another. He stabbed the King that once ruled over the land in the back and fed him to their enemies. In exchange, he was given the Kingdom.”

“But this man, he was far from being a King.”

“He knew not what it meant to lead his Kingdom. He mistreated those who inhabited his village. He did nothing for the citizens and everything for himself.”

“He used them as his pawns for his own entertainment, taking those villagers off the streets and forcing them to war for amusment. To him, they were nothing more than jesters to his court.”

“As you could imagine, this caused unrest amongst the kingdom and they grew to despise the man who claimed to be their leader.”

“His actions caused those who were supposed to look up to him, to let their guard down. A village that once stood as one of the strongest of all the land, now became a wasteland of hopelessness.”

“In the thick of the night, a wanderer had appeared in town. Despite being an outsider, those who were fed up with their authority figure welcomed the young traveler. They took him in and fed him while telling of their story.”

“They were looking for a savior, but in their spite, the wanderer found opportunity. This was a Kingdom holding on to their last strand of hope. A village where a young wanderer could finally settle down.”

“A home that was fit for a true King.”

“That night, those disgruntled villagers help the wanderer past the guards. They led him straight into the front door of the castle and the wanderer blind sided the phony King, slaying him and taking the crown for his own.”

“I tell you this story, because we are living something similar here in Death Row.”

“Max Meadows was never fit to be King.”

“He was given his perch at the top of Death Row as a favor for helping slay the monarch before him.”

“I think you realized last week that a new wanderer had just strolled into town.”

“You felt the presence of a man who could dethrone you, and that’s why you pulled out that tazer.”

“Your mistake was leaving me still breathing.”

“Because this wanderer has traveled the vast openness for far too long, and nothing will stop me from dethroning you and making Death Row a place for me to settle down.”

“Our paths, we’re destined to meet again. But this week? This week you will gather the villagers for your pleasure once more..”

“Only this time what you will witness is a BLOODY good portrait of what your future holds.”

“The blood of those who fall as casualities will rest on your hands.”

“I don’t want your silly gold belt, Max.. I want your village.”

“A village fit for a King.”
