Enough Rope…

In Harold Attano, Promo by Harold Attano

We open on Harold sitting on a chair, a rope at his feet.

There’s a saying, “Give a man enough rope, and he’ll hang himself”.  Loosely translated it means, if you see a foe making mistake after mistake, let them.  Eventually they’ll make that one last mistake that takes them out of the game.

Harold picks up the rope and caps the end with duct tape.

They’ll make mistakes which will hurt the ones they care about, costing them their position and status.  Every mistake is costly, but just keep handing them the rope.

Attano passes the rope from hand to hand stopping to mark it with tape after a meter.

Jackson, that’s how it started with you right?  Got one of your fellow officers and his family unalived by Jasper Redgrave.  Your continued pursuit leading to you being tossed down from the Eagle’s Nest and back to the beat.

Harold now starts coiling the rope as if for transport or storage as he marks it with the tape.

That led to Jasper being put on Deathrow, potentially setting your own brother up to be his next victim and because doing things, “by the book” failed you.  Well, you and your tin can show up and beat down my door, arresting me under suspicion of kidnapping the man who’d just freed me from Deathrow.

Attano continues to wind and mark the rope the coil growing larger.

Let’s shorten this story just a bit because I think everyone knows what happened from here.  You shot Benjamin Pegg, you beat the shit out of me without an ounce of provocation, and this solidified the injured Pegg’s resolve to take your badge.

Harold stops briefly and shakes his head in disgust.

Cade, I have watched you as you’ve dropped ball after ball, made mistake after mistake.

Harold reaches the end of the rope, and he holds it up to the camera revealing a noose.

This is yours Jackson, you’ve built this rope, you’ve been handed it meter after meter, and now at Uprising… I’ll be the one who slips it around your neck.

Mr. Nobody sets the rope at his feet all bundled nice and neat while continuing to present the noose.

Because you can cry foul and play the victim, but everyone sees through your smokescreen.  You came to me, you pulled your gun on me, you discharged your gun into a bystander, you hit me with the Incendiary Round.  Each was an action taken by you, Jackson Cade, and still, you think that I’m manipulating the situation.  No, I am just standing back feeding you the rope.

Harold stares into the loop of the noose as it swings from his hand, eyes intent, filled with fury.

And at the end of this rope, there’s no coming back…

No rising up…

The fall from grace that you started concludes with you diving headfirst into this loop. Because you made this noose, and now Nobody’s gonna make sure you swing from it.

Cut.
