Push: An Editorial

In Colt Ramsey, Promo by Colt Ramsey

Being a journalist is a tough job, especially when the pressure mounts. So many stories to chase down, so little time…and not every story is fit to print. Don’t believe me? Here’s one left off the press, until now.

There was a man who became aware of an imminent threat to his community. Moments like that can really put people to the test…and this man was determined to pass.

He tried as best he could to warn those he cared about of the looming danger. High and low he went, telling all with an ear to hear of how he would save them from what’s to come.

The problem? He kept pushing the issue. Push, push, push…until people pushed back. People grew tired of listening to his warning, so they ignored him…until the calamity came.

Deaths a plenty were left in its wake, and this man who fancied himself a hero came to realize a harsh reality…that he pushed one too many times. In his effort to save those he cared about, he found himself burned by his community at the worst possible time.

Oh, to be so foolish. To push people to take heed of your warning, never realizing when you’re the one being pushed back. I know just the man to fall into that trap…a Burned Man.

How many times have you pushed, and how many times have you felt that shove come right back around? Perhaps the worst offense is that of your own son, a boy who wanted to follow your footsteps and become a hero…and got himself kidnapped.

All because he wanted to be like his daddy. That’s a failure on YOUR part, Burnie baby.

Failed as a hero, failed as a father…and yet, you keep pushing. Only now, you’re pushing ME…and when Colt Ramsey gets pushed, he shoves with extra force.

I warned you, Burnie. I said tracking your boy down was NOT my problem, but you kept insisting…and you MADE it my problem. Now that you’ve pushed me this far, I’m sending you off the ledge…and it’s a long way down.

Maybe on the way down, you’ll come to regret just how hard you kept pushing…or, once you hit the bottom, you might just get lucky and find your kid there.

It’s of no matter to me, however you slice it. At its core, this is a story about one man’s foolish incessant need to force his will upon others…and that need finally setting sparks to fire up the appropriate consequence.

And trust me, Burnie, you ARE about to face some repercussions. All the heroism in the world doesn’t change how much of a control freak you really are…and it’s about time Arcadia finds out.

You pushed the people into accepting your heroism, and they left you behind. You pushed your son into listening to your advice, and now he’s missing. And now you want to push ME into doing your dirty work, Burnie?

All that pushing is about to leave YOU burned.
