The Midnight Hour

In Promo, The Burned Man by Blaze

Two masked individuals are seen creeping along someone’s apartment in the Slums. They appear to be looking of anything of value as they quietly ransack the place. As they do this, a disembodied, yet familiar and gravelly voice speaks over their actions.

“When the clock hits midnight in Arcadia, the scum come out to commit their daily crimes against the poor and impoverished.”

One of the goons pulls out a drawer, revealing an old silver necklace with a sapphire pendant in the center. They proceed to snatch it before making their way out of the vicinity.

“Night after night, predators walk the darkened roads searching for unsuspecting prey to kill, rape, or steal from. They strike without caution, thinking that those that walk in the dark are the easiest targets.”

They rush out of the complex with their stolen necklace and a bag full of other presumably stolen goods.

“Out of every criminal organization and ragtag bunch of gangs, the cultists are the ones that like to attack in the night the most. They murder for sacrifices, rape the minds of the innocent with their bullshit rhetoric, and steal their most valuable possessions in the name of donating to their cause.”

The bandits turn the corner before suddenly stopping in their tracks. A few seconds of nothing happens before they let out a scream of terror.

“Somebody needs to put a stop to their crimes before they strike again. Someone with a strong moral code needs to fight back and show them that what they believe in doesn’t justify committing atrocities on society.”

Suddenly, loud crashing and banging can be heard from off camera. One of the thieves reappears for a moment, only to get pulled back off camera by a gloved hand.

“Since no one is willing to do anything about them, that someone will have to be me.”

With one final thud, all falls silent once again. Moments later, we see Blaze himself step from out of the corner and into the camera’s view.

“My crusade against every religious despot begins with Malakai Midnight, a man who plans to strike me down like he did to Raven just a week ago. He plans to murder me in the middle of that ring, rape my corpse, and steal the scales of justice to use for his own nefarious purposes.”

Footsteps can be heard heading towards Blaze. As the source of the footsteps approaches him, however, they stop dead in their tracks.

“Plans, much like attacks during the darkest hour, don’t always go the way people want them to. The so called predator doesn’t always catch the prey, you see. Sometimes, a much bigger predator lays in wait until the smaller one has their full attention placed elsewhere.”

Blaze begins to leave the scene, but not before dropping the stolen necklace on the ground.

“And when the clock strikes midnight, I will balance the scales of justice by being the bigger predator.”

A woman’s hand reaches for the necklace as we fade to black.
