My Pandora

In Felix Foley, Promo by Felix Foley

“My life has been one ginormous Pandora’s Box.”

“I feel like it was opened at birth.”

[A baby Felix screams and cries.]

“My pop always said I was born with a disease. The Doctors didn’t find anything, but he called it kindness.”

[Felix is shown as a boy, helping an elderly lady up the steps to her home as his father watches on angrily.]

“He always said I was too nice. He called it a weakness that bad people like Sebastian Boswick would exploit. My father thought people like him would always rule Arcadia; I suppose in some ways, he was right.”

[Zeus is shown being thrown roses by the OSW audience.]

“Then there was violence and madness. I was born to it, really. I was born into it, at least. My father used to beat me black and blue at every opportunity. It was his curse.”

[Scissors is shown killing Damien Wolfe.]

“And his madness became mine, too.”

[Felix lowers his head shamefully.]

“I didn’t want that. I never wanted that. The Burned Man knows what I mean, doesn’t he? He’s had to deal with his fair share of violence and madness. When his son was taken by Doom, he almost went mad with worry and look at the violence he brought down upon me for my suspected involvement.”

[We see Felix being Diving Elbow Dropped by The Burned Man at Hail to the King.]

Sorrow has been burned into my brain for decades. Sorrow over losing my show and my connection with the children. Sorrow for my past. Sorrow for losing my friendship with Doom. Whichever way I turn, sorrow stands before me. Poor Jinx must feel the same about her brother and the mystery that concerns his passing.”

[Foley sits in the funhouse alone.]

“If I ever had a vice, it would be that I couldn’t help myself. I couldn’t help myself when my pop was beating the snot out of me and I couldn’t help myself when The Burned Man thought I was his enemy. I just couldn’t help myself. I didn’t have the strength. Vice is something Jackson Cade knows tons about. His vice is that badge and he can’t give it up.”

[A cops badge.]

“And old age? I’m afraid myself and Vision know that death soon comes for us both.”

[Felix’ softly smiling face.]

“My opponents know aspects of Pandora just like I do.”

“Jackson Cade may know vice. The Burned Man may know madness. Sebastian Boswick may know disease, Jinx may know sorrow and Vision may know old age.”

“But none of them know them all.”

“None of them have opened Pandora’s Box and peered inside.”

I have.

“And if that Hell in a Cell is another Box, with another door, and it’s being opened for me? Well, I just call that another Monday.”

“Wouldn’t you?”
