There’s an old saying in journalism, one that I hold very near and dear to my heart. It’s the subject of many a discussion, even debate, over what details we focus on in letting people know what is happening here in Arcadia. Not everyone holds true to the principle, and it always brings our reputation into dispute despite our best effort not to go down that route.
Don’t bury the lede.
If you’re not familiar with the phrase, it may sound confusing, but upon closer inspection it becomes oh so clear. When we share our stories here at The People’s Voice, we believe the most important detail should be the top priority, but there are those who would try and hide such critical information.
It’s almost as if they have something to hide. Some sort of skeleton locked up in their closet, just waiting for someone to uncover the truth.
After all, who wants to let all of Arcadia know their dirty little secret?
Some would try to hide every detail possible, keep it buried like a body in a grave. Never to be dug up, unless someone made it a point to…someone like ol’ Colt Ramsey.
Because all this running around Arcadia has made me acutely aware of the shadier side of things, the type of information certain individuals want to keep locked up. They would love for me to keep that lede nice and buried, giving it no room to breathe as they move on with their life.
But at some point, the truth finds a way to escape all the same.
When doctors choose the wealth of their patient over their health, it becomes a concern. People start disappearing left and right, and questions get raised…questions that find their way to The People’s Voice to have answered.
When the Arcadian Police Department start slipping in their oath to serve and protect, it becomes a problem. Criminals are set free, innocent people are carried off to who knows where…and it’s up to The People’s Voice to look into it.
And when a Ferryman, meant to send the dearly departed on their way to the next life, starts lashing out and becoming a murderer himself? That’s when someone has to step in, to intervene on behalf of the people.
Three men, three very different paths, all trying to bury the lede in order to walk through the darkness…but ol’ Colt’s got a torch to shine a light on the situation.
There is nowhere for you to hide, nowhere to run. The truth is clawing its way out of the grave you’ve made for it, and I’m providing the helping hand for its escape.
The lede will be buried no longer, given a chance to thrive.
The people have spoken, and they will have their voice heard when I expose the three of you for the liars you are…and the truth will set Arcadia free.
Because the people want accountability, and you’ve got to give the people what they want!
