You Can’t Choose: Your Friends

In Promo, The Burned Man by Blaze

“It’s funny what a year can bring. When the bells first chimed the new year in, I thought I’d lost everything. My family, my hope, anything but a burning desire for vengeance. That is, until Doom came into the picture by kidnapping a helpless hero and inadvertently reuniting me with my son.”

“Since then, the relationship between me and my Faith took several twists and turns. We’ve fought alongside and against each other several times. We’ve tried to change each other into something we weren’t. We even thought the other would be better off dying in the fire that those bastards have started at the beginning of the year.”

“But in the end, we’re still family. We might have our differences, but we can depend on each other when we need each other’s help.”

“It wasn’t always like that, though. I didn’t think I needed him. I didn’t want him in Olympus throwing his life away to take my legacy from under me.”

“So I tried to push him away. I tried to raise my standards of being a hero to an impossible standard in the hopes that the arrogant and careless boy would go home.”

“It was only until we clashed at Ring of Dreams that I realized that I needed him. He met all my standards and became the best hero I’ve ever known.”

“It wasn’t until Frostbite that you realized you needed Foley, Doom. But how could this be? You only thought he was worth keeping around because he held the other half of the tag championships.”

“Despite his annoying, childlike personality, you grew to like the man and his naivety. It awoke something human in you that you tried to hide from Arcadia for so long.”

“But you didn’t want him hindering your plans to take over the world. By doing so, you’d have to balance your time between that and being a father figure to the man that thinks you’re his best friend.”

“So you pushed him away. You tried to act cold and convince him and yourself that you weren’t his friend. However, by doing so, you started to miss him.”

“And when you saw him nearly die by our hands, you decided that you couldn’t take it anymore. Some part of you decided that he needed you as much as you needed him, proceeding to rescue him from his well deserved fate.”

“We both have realized we were pushing away the person we needed the most. However, the difference between you and me is that I’m more than ready to admit I need my boy. Your ego, meanwhile, convinces you that everyone, Felix included, is beneath you.”

“As a result, you’ll push the puppeteer away again. By doing so, neither you nor him will be able to come back from the betrayal.”

“You might be friends for now, but when the cracks begin to form in your relationship once again, you’ll feel the wrath of Burning Justice.”

“Be careful when pushing away the only friend you have. You just might get burned.”
